In room 17698, there's a possible Jack-stuck. The loose brick switch that turns on the zapper beams (top level, left of top beam gauntlet) is reusable. Of the loose brick switches that turn off the zapper beams, one is only accessible if you're coming from a dead end that would require you to pass the beams already (top level, right of top beam gauntlet). The other (bottom level, right of bottom beam gauntlet) is NOT reusable, and never resets, even if you leave the room and re-enter. As such, if you have already used it to turn the beams off, you can permanently turn the beams on again and have no way to access what's behind them.

It's quite possible that a clumsy player could wall off their access through the beams— irreversibly. Normally, a purple key is accessible through a route that passes through the lower-left beam gauntlet.
If that player then did not already have enough purple keys to bypass the whole zapper beam thing and open the purple doors to the next section, they would be stuck.
In room 14498, if Jack stands where he is in the screenshot, he can jump/fall into the room to the left, which is supposed to be inaccessible from there. He will die upon falling into the next room, so it's less nasty than it could have been, but if you're scouring for secrets you could easily stumble into this one.

In the old MM1 there was only the yellow button functioning. I put the window in the Dock. Clicking on the app icon in the Dock open the window up again on the screen.

In MMHD we have all three buttons. I have so many times clicked on the read one to just close the window, BUT it closes the application without asking if that is what I want. >

Minimise the window to the Dock and you can only get it up again when clicking on the specific icon in the Dock. Nothing happens when clicking on the applications icon.

In room 18291, if Jack stands where he is in the screenshot and moves to the left without jumping, he will walk through the block his yoyo is over, falling to his death.

I don't know if this has to do with the same sound bug as for opening grey doors. I first got aware of it to day and that is the bouncing eye have sound on some bounces and not on others in the same room in House of Baron Garneau
Listen to this movie.

Has anyone been able to test Spider Palace?

I myself have been concentrating on the new mansions as they are bound to have more problems. I am not sure I will have time to get through all the other mansions to get to the Spider mansion, especially not in the Hard version.

Vern can we unlock the Spider Palace during the testing period??
I heard back from an Apple engineer today. The issue that was preventing Midnight Mansion HD from being submitted to the Mac App Store should be easily resolvable. So I will be releasing beta 5 either tonight or tomorrow hopefully, and likely submitting the same version to the Mac App Store. If any major bugs are found in beta 5, I'll cancel the submission process, but otherwise beta 5 will become the release version.

We will still continue to do beta 6, 7, and so on, because I need to keep adding features for the ActionSoft website version of the game (features that allow existing owners of the game to upgrade for about $5), and continue to add other improvements, like maybe better handling of saved games.
I've looked into this more, and it turns out it's a bug in the game. It will be fixed in beta 5!

As a technical side note: sound volumes for left/right speakers can range from 0 (silent) to 255 (max). What was happening is that sometimes 256 was being passed as the volume. Formerly, this would result in the same effect as 255. But with the sound libraries I'm using for the HD version, 256 results in *no* sound being played, so I just added code to keep the values within bounds.

Thanks for reporting this Rose! It was indeed a bug I don't want in the final game. :-)
