Beta 4 - Nightmare Mansion Normal
#1
In room 17698, there's a possible Jack-stuck. The loose brick switch that turns on the zapper beams (top level, left of top beam gauntlet) is reusable. Of the loose brick switches that turn off the zapper beams, one is only accessible if you're coming from a dead end that would require you to pass the beams already (top level, right of top beam gauntlet). The other (bottom level, right of bottom beam gauntlet) is NOT reusable, and never resets, even if you leave the room and re-enter. As such, if you have already used it to turn the beams off, you can permanently turn the beams on again and have no way to access what's behind them.

It's quite possible that a clumsy player could wall off their access through the beams— irreversibly. Normally, a purple key is accessible through a route that passes through the lower-left beam gauntlet.
If that player then did not already have enough purple keys to bypass the whole zapper beam thing and open the purple doors to the next section, they would be stuck.

Are you sure? When I leave the room and come back, the beams are turned off again.

The order I hit the brick switches is top-level
on
first
, then the
off
switch (bottom level), then the
on
one again (top level). I then left the room and came back, and the beams were off.

It's different for you? How are you doing the switches?

(Use
enable arrow keys" cheat code while paused to quickly navigate to this room using command-arrow keys for easy testing.)

My mistake. After playing NM Hard, I realized that the 'Off' switch permanently sets the state of the beams to off, while the 'On' switch only temporarily resets them. I thought the On switch was also a permanent.

False alarm. Sorry.
