Does there ring a bell?

On September the 6th I had my last contact with CarnOMyst. I was beta-testing his king-size casino. While I was testing 3 sections of it, he was still building all the others. But he got several times in trouble, when he tried to add extra rooms.

I'm thinking of putting his unfinished mansion here on the boards, till he is back from ... ? But I will have to do a lot of fixing work to close all gaps and gates to the not yet existing sections. And I haven't any idea if the mansion has a finish, so I need to check that as well.

Note: If you're wondering how to begin to build a mansion and have no idea, please read the included Level Builder Docs in included in the Midnight Mansion's folder.

If you want one of your mansions to get on the List of Completed Mansions it does NOT to be perfect. But we need the assurance of the designer that it has been beta-tested thoroughly. In a matter of fact, that is our only demand.

It is certainly not our purpose to disrupt anyone's creativity. So we will not declare what is a must or what is inacceptable. But having a look at possible jack-stucks, heightdifference at horizontal roomlinks, unsupposed shortcuts etc. are wortwhile.

When your mansion is in your opinion ready for release you do the following steps.
1° In the Mansion Lever Builder go to Special and Remove Preview PICTs.
2° Go to Finder and File. Click on Create Archive ... to become a neat zip-file.
3° Send that zip-file and an accompanying text (with size, difficulty-degree, story, etc.) by email to one or more administrators. Not the Global Moderator or the YaBB Administrator! The emailaddresses of the
normal
administrators you will easily find in the memberslist.

The first administrator who finds the time, will launch your mansion.

It is our advice that you also start a new topic about your oncoming mansion at Talk, even during the building process. So you will be able to tell what you are planning, show a screenshot as appetizer, ask advice in case of problems, announce that your finished mansion was send to the administrators ...

Dear designers. More and more players are using COMMAND+D as a standard during play. That it is pretty logic, because in the first place, one sees in the right lower corner how many secrets has been found so far. Above that, the roomnumbers in the upper left corner are a big help for a good conversation on the boards.

The consequence of the yellow
stuff
in three of the room-corners, is that playing-hints from the mansion-designers may be covered. I wanted to put everyone's (builders AND players) attention upon that.

Before making this post, I asked Vern if it was possible to change these in an easy way. Sadly, it isn't. It seems to be a major work to move these things out of the playing-window. So it is best that the designers, in the first place, take care.

Well, I've recently just started working on the new monsters for the expansion pack, and something's been bugging me: the sprite area is incredibly tiny! When I originally started work on Midnight Mansion back in 2001, I had a 13
Cathode-Ray-Tube based monitor, set to 640x480 resolution. And the sprite area was perfectly large. But today on my 20
iMac, it's downright tiny!

So whenever 1.0.8 is released, you'll have a nice bigger sprite area to work with. ;-)

-Vern

P.S. The new monster additions are also visible in this screenshot, although they currently don't do anything. It takes a lot of work to just add new sprites to the game, let alone make them actually *do* something. I'm still working on the former part.

Is there really no one in the world who can help me with the (Spanish) name of the designer of this mansion? It is the very last one I am missing.
