Hi - I have reached room 20906 in DofD. I can get the purple key in the lower left, and I can get up into the upper left where the plate turns off the zappers, but I can't figure out where to go out of the room. If I exit on the floor elevator with the purple dot, I end up back a ways in the game. But I can't find a new purple door to open or where to go that's new. Help!!

And thanks, Nancy
Greetings all,
I am currently enjoying
The Mansion Family-MindMines
- very nice; but i am stuck (like that's news!
I am in Room 16906, and do not know where to go next - or am I in the wrong place altogether?
Thanks in advance,
DLC :-?
Ooh, I just played my first game of MM on my new 24
iMac and I'm stunned. I've moved from a G3 with a 13
monitor and I can't believe how this impacts the game. It is so beautiful with bright colours, crisp images, and details I'd never noticed before. It also plays much more quickly. As it turns out, all the things about MM that annoyed me were the fault of my G3! ;D
Just out of curosity

I have an MS degree in marine biology and am a junior college teacher and course director.

I am also researching the feeding habits of the harlequin duck (Histrionicus histrionicus) near my home town.

Hmmm.... How can I find time playing MM and building MM mansions?
:

I got and still have internet-troubles. (Yes, I payed all my bills. ) That is why I was absent for a while and maybe as well in future. Really hope it got solved asap.

And for those who sent me emails. Same cause. Sorry! Try to answer quick.
All is suspiciously quiet on the western front !!

Are you all preparing for the contest ??

For a while several new mansions were released almost simultaneously, and now nothing is happening....

So I decided to entertain you with a little fun mansion called AUTO PILOT:

As the name implies, in this mansion you DO NOT HAVE TO PLAY AT ALL. Jack is running on Auto Pilot, you only need to sit back and watch (do a little sightseeing; let Jack be your guide).
Maybe you can turn him round once in a while (he's so cool, he has the tendency to walk backwards sometimes), but NOTHIN' ELSE !

Have Fun !! ;D
I just spent most of my day messing with custom icons from various sites, mainly http://www.fasticon.com/ and www.apple.com and various sites that I ended up at by googling,
Free Icons for Mac OS X.
I used CandyBar for chancing my icons, and Folder Icon X for editing them. (I edited alot) 8-) Here's a picture of what my desktop looks like now.

I edited Photoshop, AppleWorks, and Color it is the app down there that has a normal toon app icon. (I didn't like the OS 9 one much, so I did abit of art) BTW: The app. icon I made by putting together an application sybol and file icon.

Took me awhile to figure it out how to do this, so don't think it's easy to do. Read the tutorials and read-mes that come with the two apps. I used. Also took me awhile to find the apps! Sadly, Folder Icon X is for sale for $10 so an annoying
unregistered
sign will come up with the icon that you made or making. Candy machine is free, for awhile, that is. After it asks you your password 25 times, you can't do anything with it anymore. I have I think 1 more use left! :

The toon icons kinda fit my personally... so that's why I put them on! At the http://www.fasticon.com/ click
downloads for the free icons. The rest are $99-$300 I think.

If you want to do this, and managed to get a code or two for the apps, I can help you out! This is really cool!

BTW: Do you know how I did the games to have their icon of the game on the folder icon? I put the folder icon in Folder Icon X on the back layer. (One that surrounds the whole box) and I put the cool icon from the game on the 2nd layer, (you can only have 2, I think) and then selected in the menu,
Apply on folder..." and you will then target what folder, which I used the game's folder. Pretty cool eh? You can delete the 2nd layer if you didn't merge the icon and put another one on, and target anther folder.
Enjoy!
Cheers,
P.S. Show me your finder once you did it to yours if you did!

Alas, hate to be the bearer of bugs and hopefully I'm just doing something wrong......

1. I was using the new platform setup for a square pattern. On the platform I had a key. The key stayed on the platform until I made the room dark. Now when the platform (moving clockwise) hits the first top left corner the key falls off.

2. On the same platform as above if Jack jumps on at the bottom left corner as above (in the dark) he gets thrown off to the left. With the lights on it works fine. I marked the path out with coins to make sure I was hitting the platform the same in the dark as in the light.
...and it has lots of great features to make your life as a mansion designer much easier! Check out the complete list of things below:

- Changed respawn after death so that if Jack climbs down into a room below that has very little space at the top, Jack still respawns after dying in that room, not the room above, if he died after walking on solid ground.
- Hopefully fixed a problem where Jack could climb onto a ladder with no floor below it, if he was standing on bricks directly to the ladder's left side.
- Fixed a game crashing bug that would occur if Jack rode a moving platform all the way up to the very top of the screen, and a room was above that.
- Fixed a problem in Knight Mansion Hard where you could get stuck if you used the keys in the wrong order.
- Fixed a problem in Nightmare Mansion Easy/Normal/Hard, Room 17502, where Jack could get stuck by pulling the wrong levers.
- Changed number of secrets in Knight Mansion Hard from 12 to 13.
- Changed number of secrets in Nightmare Mansion Hard from 10 to 11.
- Improved size of tile and sprite areas in the Mansion Builder, so it's easier to see what's in them.
- Made Command-0 through Command-6 set the current layer in the Mansion Builder.
- Fixed dialog box for lantern in Mansion Builder, so it doesn't have an
Is Falling
checkbox anymore.
- Added a great new feature to the editor:
Copy border from adjacent rooms.
Use this feature when designing a new room to copy tiles from the borders of nearby rooms, so you know where to put your bricks and ladders so they connect to the rooms nearby properly.
- Added
Mansion Info
option to editor's Special menu, to tell you teh total number of rooms, secrets, and money in your mansion.
- Removed
New Room
menu item. Now
Open Room...
can also create new rooms. Click on an empty location to create a room, or an existing location to open a room.
- Added support for custom sprite replacement. Now you can replace sprite graphics on a per-mansion basis, just as you can do for tiles.
- Signs can now be edited directly from within the level builder! Mansion builders rejoice!
- New editor design that makes it easier to find tiles and sprites on large monitors.
- Beat-the-Mansion screen now shows the mansion's name as set in Mansion Options...
- Added screen to promote the Midnight Mansion Level Design Contest when you quit.
- Added support for custom mansions to come with custom music and background screens. Just put these files in a folder named
MANSION NAME Data
where MANSION NAME is the name of your mansion. Put the folder in the Custom Mansions folder next to your mansion.
Okay, so this *is* related to Midnight Mansion, I just didn't know where else to put it. I could use your help! It seems Download.com added a
ratings
feature at some point, and while Midnight Mansion has gotten great positive comments, no one has made use of the Ratings feature, which could help a bit more. So if you have a free minute, go here and give it 5 stars:

http://www.download.com/Midnight-Mansion/3000-2275_4-10624857.html?tag=lst-0-5

Look at the
Average user rating
just below the Download Now link. There is a blue
Rate it!
link there. You have to become a member to rate it (free), which is a nuisance, but I suppose that way each person can rate it only once.

I'm hoping to get into the
Highest Rated
category. I don't know if you need an editorial review to get there, or if user reviews can do it, but only 2 Mac games are in that category right now, so I figure why not try.
