In the room shown, when I entered it a second time, I triggered the green switch and got locked in, with no way to get out because the bad guys were already dead. So I tossed myself into the acid and luckily I reappeared outside the locked door
So Jacob (the artist for Midnight Mansion and Midnight Mansion 2) and I have been discussing Midnight Mansion 3, and what we want to do with it. Midnight Mansion 2 has been selling well, so it looks like I'll be able to continue working on the franchise -- both good news for me, and for fans!

Here's the deal: Midnight Mansion 2 was originally an
expansion pack
that ended up turning into a full sequel. But it really is just
add ons
to the original game: new enemies, new artwork, and some new features allowing for some great new puzzles. However, for Midnight Mansion 3, I want to go all out with a
true
upgrade -- redo all artwork in high resolution, rewrite the engine so it's hardware accelerated, plus add more in-game additions than you can shake a stick at.

Some changes might be controversial. I've found that fans of the game have become *very* attached to how things are, like ladder jumping. Some are likely to be less controversial: I want to get rid of the rainbow key, and some of the weirder features, like being able to jump on a brick switch to move a flame from torch to torch.

Anyway, I'm not here to talk about all the in-game additions that will be made. I'm here to ask about a proposed structure to the mansions themselves.

What if Midnight Mansion 3 had 20-30 mansions, each about 20 rooms in length? The idea being that, instead of taking an hour to play, a mansion would take 15-20 minutes (depending on how good you are). Many adult gamers have limited time on their hands, and prefer to take play games for about 15 minutes at a time. While this is possible with Midnight Mansion's save and suspend game feature, it still feels like you
have
to get to the next save point.

There would be no save points. The mansion would be short enough that you'd beat with all the lives you have.

I know people don't like change here, so I'll probably get a lot of fans up in arms about even proposing this change, but still... I'm curious what people think.
I've noticed that not all my Saved games go into the Saved Games folder. Some of them are winding up in the MMHH folder and some are in my Games folder, which is a sub-folder I have under Applications.

Has anyone else noticed this happening?

?????????
Mansion Info says 20 secrets; Mansion Options says 21, so highest score possible is 95%.

Please fix and include in first update. Thanks!

Keep in mind everyone that there is a known bug with the movie recordings in MM2. The issue is that while in windy areas (Such as Jasperlone Mountains) doesn't work.

I am not sure if Vern is going to fix this or not but for now we'll just have to live with it. It's no big deal, anyway.
See pic. Jack is on the blue bat platform in 14897, which started from 14497. For some strange reason, the bat platform stops there and doesn't go down to where it's supposed to. I've tried going back up and down a couple times, and it always stops here.

Also, there seems to be a key problem. I left the yellow doors in 14899 for last and I didn't have the last yellow key I needed. So I went to the right half of the mansion and then came back when I got a yellow key. I was going to see if I could finish the whole mansion this way, but then I got stuck here.
Hi, haven't been here in a long time! I just downloaded the MM 2 demo, and from the first half-hour of what I've played, I've really enjoyed it! The new art style, original soundtrack and creative gameplay elements have really made this feel like a sequel.

My first problem is that in Mt. Peril (Easy), you can get stuck in room 16500. I came down the moving platform moving into this room, then I activated the switch to the left and quickly left the platform while it moved up. I couldn't go anywhere else from here. If I died in this room, I would restart in it… so, I'm stuck. See the attached screenshot to get a better idea of what I'm talking about.

Next, I got a minor bug which I think had to do with minimising the game window into the Dock. From what I remember, the game window was covered in black and moving the cursor inside that area would reveal a square area relative to where the cursor is. I don't know how to reproduce this unfortunately.

Lastly, I don't know if this bug has existed since MM 1. you're able to constantly use a lever switch in midair if you access it from a platform where you can reach the switch. You can jump from the position of the switch or repeatedly use the switch while in mid-air. Maybe in some rare situations this could allow for mansion exploits? I recorded an MM movie file, though it didn't save in the User Movies folder. (a demo limitation?)
