Half Jack-stuck in section 1
Posted by: Freddy - 10-01-2023, 02:02 PM - Forum: Hanging Gardens of Babylon - Replies (5)

My Jack was in room 16105. See image a. He knows how to get to the lever with the red knot. And did. See image b. Only then he realized that he used a one way route. Jack committed suicide in style by catching the two silver coins. See image c.

I need to report that to the designer for fixing and launching an update, don't I? Oops ... that's me.

 Music interruptions
Posted by: Freddy - 09-02-2023, 05:56 PM - Forum: General Issues - No Replies

During play, more often than wanted there are short interruptions in the back ground music. It is not really a game bug, but when it lasts too long it becomes annoying.

I don't have a sollution for this issue, but there is something that you can do: press escape, choose suspend, then abord and finally resume play where you were before.

On my mac this always seems to help.

Leofani Manor normal - Close to game over
Posted by: Freddy - 08-29-2023, 09:27 AM - Forum: Included Mansions - No Replies

In contrary to Castle Basano normal and Blackheart Keep normal this mansion is tougher. Mostly all the time Jack's number of lives was lower than six and more often than wanted one or zero. That resulted in eager searching for save pedestals or money opportunities to gather an extra life.

On the first image you see Jack's 3rd save when he had no lives left. That means that he lost at least the six from save point 2 and the nine from the money, but also some more because he got extra lives at the two previous save spots. In total more than twenty ...
:Smile

But Alex Diener was right. Once you get in trouble you become sharper, more focused, playing more careful. What not necessarily helps because pretty soon after that 3rd save it was game over.
:'( Wink

On the road there was an interesting moment. See the picture with a map. The only key he had was a red one, so further progress had to be with using that key. But there were 3 closed red doors. And the magic of MM2 where not everything has to be in view. On these moments one has to rely on the designer's work. A kind of faith.

There wasn't any problem when Jack continued through the lowest red door. He found a revealing yellow key to open that yellow door, glide down the poles etc.
[smiley=thumbup.gif]

Now some stretching for a new attempt.
Smile

The Caves and the Castle normal - Brief visit
Posted by: Freddy - 08-20-2023, 06:32 PM - Forum: The Caves and the Castle - Replies (7)

Hi brell !

On Sundays my Jack is allowed to enter custom mansions. He had a brief look in the normal version of TC&Cn. Even the abbreviation is long!
Wink

Room 12076 is an interesting room in the very beginning. After a few restarts (I call that cheating, Jack) he knows the following order for opening the red doors. But as his mentor I am interested in the crystal clear subtile clue.
Wink

Fair is fair. I really don't see it. :-[

Blackheart Keep normal - A revisit
Posted by: Freddy - 08-20-2023, 04:58 PM - Forum: Included Mansions - No Replies

The review of this mansion will be shorter than the one for MM2 - Castle Basano normal because this mansion is smaller.
Wink

But first of all I like to give a reply on semi-native's post from September the 14th in 2010 :exclamation. In the normal version the Jack-stuck in room 15697 is still there (see image 1). Jack may jump in the deep from the right side of the upper room (15497) and grab the right vine in the room below (15697). There is no way to leave that room again.

Today my Jack did visit MM2 - Blackheart Keep normal for the second time and it confirmed my previous feeling that this one is a lot easier than Castle Basano normal.

In general there were 3 sections to be done.

Target 1 was to search for 2 blue keys to open a double blue door and target 2 the search for 4 yellow keys to open a yellow quadruple door. When done, Jack made his second save with 7 secrets found, 6 lives lost and the knowledge of an unfinished dark room. Soon he was going to find out that he already was pretty close to the finish.

In a tower he needed to avoid the Jack-stuck and open 5 purple doors what all went very smoothly. Too easy. In fact only the grey and originally designed area (see image 2) was on normal level. Very interesting!

Jack, please open the exit door! All secrets found and only :-? 9 lives lost. I need to ban you to the easy version.
Castle Basano normal - An interesting visit
Posted by: Freddy - 08-15-2023, 03:36 PM - Forum: Included Mansions - Replies (10)

Right now my Jack is standing at the exit door of this mansion, ready to finish with $ 31.950 and more than a dozen secrets.

Before I let him do that I like to keep the map of this mansion under my hands to make a review.

The mansion has a small intro outside the castle followed by a gate tower. After a short walk through the rain came the castle with a green lower area, a red upper left zone and a blue upper right section. During play it became clear that Jack had to collect 3 blue keys to open a triple blue door. Two of them could be found in the castle.

So far the mansion felt to me as somewhere between easy and normal. The designer (is his identity common knowledge?) must have known that, since there were only a few shields (average of 1 for every 15 rooms).

What could be expected happened: the castle had dungeons. Immediately game became more intense. Not hard, but Jack needed to be more focused. Play got really interesting, especially since this mostly grey section had nearly the size of the castle itself. To keep things 'normal' the designer offered a few signs with safety warnings like 'mind your head in next room'. For the same reason there were more shields and in my opinion enough saving pedestals.

When Jack left the castle through the triple door he had a spare key and a sign with a message like 'Jack will encounter a lot of troubles in the on coming catacombs'. Those troubles I taxed as work between normal and hard. The area was in a lot of brownish variations and together with a very good spread of a limited number of coloured doors and keys it gave an amazing midnight mansion game feeling. And an other spare key!

The finish zone was a lookalike of the intro: small and with an other gate tower.

About the design there I have nearly no remarks for corrections: a few places where money (bags) could be catched early by jumping from below, one single spot where an insane squirrel jump leads to a half Jack-stuck (forced offer of a life) and one room where sinking platforms were half covering torches.

I have a lot of appreciation for all the work that has been done at the backgrounds. I added a picture of one of the blue rooms to illustrate that.

And now back to Jack. 93 % secrets found (so I know how many he did miss). 31 lives lost, really? He needs to be punished with the hard version!
An attempt
Posted by: Freddy - 05-29-2023, 12:47 PM - Forum: Pirate Invasion, The - No Replies

This morning my Jack was in the mood for something risky: an other brell-mansion.
Wink

He found his way to the save pedestal in room 30100 where he made his first save with $ 3.250 and 2 secrets. At that point the map shows a 3-room-gap where, I assume, the captain's cabin must be. Also clearly visible are a purple key and a blue door. Probably also a yellow door.

Deserves a new visit.

See pic.
Jack arrived in a room where some levers looked like this. They were supposed to be invisible and become revealed by T-triggers.
