The new HD versions of MM1 HD are GREAT, but the speed of the game slows down significantly for me when Jack enters a room with alot of activity (lava, birds, etc.).  the game is then slow as molasses after that (the speed of the game, if that's what's displayed in the upper R when using command + D, is about 20 - 27).  <br />

this has happened in all of the mansions that Jack has explored so far (either in full screen view or when it is smaller, about 1/2 size).  suspending the game and resuming does not resolve the problem, only quitting and restarting after suspending the game seems to fix the problem for a while until things slow down again.<br />

in case it helps, the computer is a MacBook Air running OS 10.6.8 with a 1.6 GHz processor (2 GB 667 MHz DDR2 SDRAM).  <br />

In the original version when you completed a mansion and submitted your score for the overall best list you would be taken to a web page showing the top scores for that mansion, with the ability to switch back to the game, now you are taken to your personal high scores page within the game, you have to quit the game to see the web page with the overall high scores. I'm running the game at full screen under Lion if that makes any difference.

First off -- all of you who are beta testers are entitled to a FREE copy of the HD version of the game (both episodes 1 and 2). If you wish to support me anyway and purchase one or both of those from the Mac App Store, you are certainly welcome to (this would allow you to leave a review there and rate the game -- which is very helpful!) but you are definitely entitled to a free copy if you wish it for your hard work beta testing!<br />

The free copy I can provide once the <blockquote>ActionSoft</blockquote> version of Episodes 1 and 2 are ready -- in hopefully 1-3 weeks. (i.e. the version that you can download from the ActionSoft website, and uses registration codes.)<br />

However, in case any of you DO purchase the Mac App Store version, I just wanted to give a word of warning: you need to delete ALL prior copies of Midnight Mansion HD that you have on your hard drive. (Or move them to a backup drive, and disconnect the drive, before installing the Mac App Store version.)<br />

Why? Because the Mac App Store searches for any program with the same bundle identifier, and installs the version you download <blockquote>into</blockquote> the program it finds. Meaning, the Mac App Store version will be installed <blockquote>into</blockquote> one of your former beta versions of the game, if you have one you didn't delete. This will result in weird things, like the Mac App Store version having a name like <blockquote>Midnight Mansion HD Beta 4</blockquote> instead of the normal name, or maybe crashing on launch.<br />

If you forget, just delete the copies and download again.

I just wanted to thank all of you who are loyal fans of the game for your support. A number of you went ahead and purchased both Episode 1 *and* Episode 2, just to support me. That really means a lot!<br />

Currently Midnight Mansion HD is being <blockquote>featured</blockquote> on the Mac App Store thanks to your kind reviews of the game, and the sales that you have driven to the Mac App Store so far. This will help to gain new customers, and also will likely give me enough money to survive several more months so I can complete the Windows and iPad versions of the game.<br />

Sales of all ActionSoft games combined this past year have been extremely low, and I was getting to the point where, if Midnight Mansion HD didn't sell well on the Mac App Store, I might have been forced to stop development and get a <blockquote>real job.</blockquote> I'm glad it looks like I'll be able to continue, to see how the Windows and iPad versions do, and also do a spin-off game for iPad that I think has *really good* potential to be a hit.<br />

Running OS 10.7.1 (Lion) on a mid-2010 27&quot; iMac 2.8 GHz Intel Core i5, with 16 GB of RAM, when I get to a save station the screen shrinks to the default size and then my screen saver starts up, not a big problem, just a slight inconvenience.
