MM 1.0.9 & Cathedral Towers Normal by zipwin
I want to know how to get the 1.0.9 update and to have someone explain to me what is included in "secrets?" I finished Cathedral (normal) and was surprised to find I had only uncovered 30% of the "secrets".

Re: MM 1.0.9 & Cathedral Towers Normal by Wingy
MM question:I believe you should just re-download Midnight mansion at the homepage, and just drag the custom mansions into the new MM folder, and don't worry about your saves and stuff, it's all in the prefs and application support folders...Secrets questionefinition: In the mansion builder, there is an interesting big blue "S" at the end of the sprites that doesn't show up in the game. Now when I started building mansions I wondered what that was... I'll tell you.A secret is, when you find money that was hidden and there wasn't any obvious way to get to it. (An obvious way is like there's a visible passage, or a door leading to it) The total number of secrets are counted in Percent at the end.You can also press Command+D in the game, and all these numbers will appear in the corners, the one in the bottom right corner is the number of secrets you've found! The other ones are just room number and framerate. Look in the documentions of the game to find out more about them.Wingy

Re: MM 1.0.9 & Cathedral Towers Normal by zipwin
Thanks. That's helpful. Can anyone tell me if it is possible in 1.0.9 to finish Falcon Manor Normal? I mean complete both sides?
------------------------
Re: MM 1.0.9 & Cathedral Towers Normal by Wingy
... I think it is... check your total score when you win with only one side, see if it was close to what the normal falcon world highscores 1st place... if its like double what you have, then you should be able to beat both sides.
------------------------
Re: MM 1.0.9 & Cathedral Towers Normal by Freddy
Well, I am pretty sure it is impossible. Since I know that daFalcon, builder of this mansion, is changing all three versions (easy, normal and hard), so that all rooms can be seen in one visit!

Knight Mansion Normal bug? by VernJensen
I got a report from a player that seems like it might be a legitimate mistake in the design of Knight Mansion normal. He's at the end of the mansion. He didn't open the teal door near the beginning, so he has an extra teal key at the end. But no purple key to open the purple area to the left of where he's currently standing in the attached suspended game. (Note: to use the attached suspended game, you must "trick" Midnight Mansion into accepting it by first doing Start Game, playing Knight Mansion Normal, suspending the game, and THEN dragging the attached file into the appropriate folder in Application Support / Midnight Mansion / Suspended Game Data / [Profile name] / and replace the suspended game in there. Then start the game, and choose Yes when asked to resume your suspended game. Or if that's too complicated, you can open up the saved game here. But regardless, there does indeed seem to be a shortage of purple keys at the end of this mansion.I noticed that if you cheat and give yourself a purple key to go to the area to the left, there is a secret area there with another purple key. I don't get this at all, unless the designer intended the player to FIRST open the purple door to the left, find the secret area, get that purple key, and THEN open the purple door to the right, that gives you a lantern. It's all rather confusing to me to try to figure out what the designer intended, which is why I'm asking here what people think.Clearly *something* is wrong with this mansion though. Various options:- Change the purple door leading to the lantern to another color (red?), and change the purple key in the hidden area to the left to red instead.- Change the left purple door to teal instead, so players that don't open the teal door at the start of the mansion can open this as a bonus at the end? (But then they might have an extra purple key when finished, if they get the one in the secret area to the left.)- Something else entirely? Maybe add a purple key to some room, and remove it from the secret area? This all will sound very confusing unless you open up the mansion, and do the "Reveal Map" cheat while paused, or use the editor, to study it for a bit, and THEN re-read the comments above, and then it'll all hopefully make sense. But I could definitely use some feedback as to what change people think I should make, and also, if you think Easy/Hard are affected by this?

Re: Knight Mansion Normal bug? by Freddy
Pweh ...Sounds like a very complex problem that deserves a complete beta-testing of this mansion. I am "in" for it, but please keep in mind that I do some other MM-things as well. E.g. I am checking if, YES or NO, there are XP-bugs, because I noticed 2 odd things. No red alarm yet. I first want to have a closer look at it myself. On the other hand, I know that Alan/Falcon will be working on his Falcon Manors as soon as he is back from the Pacific Islands. It would be nice if any needed fixings could be released together.

Re: Knight Mansion Normal bug? by rose
What is this XP-bugs?? I hope it doesn't have to do with PCs?!

The fact that the player may choose the wrong door (and end up not grabbing the maximum coins and/or secrets) makes it more fun.

Ahhh!BUG with capital letters!
------------------------
Re: Knight Mansion Normal bug? by VernJensen
Perhaps BBFMan is right -- maybe it is something where the player can choose the "wrong order" of doors, and not get the maximum secrets. That seems flaky to me, but I guess each mansion designer has his right to do stuff like that.
------------------------
Re: Knight Mansion Normal bug? by Freddy
Well, I couldn't find time yet to have a thourough look. But a previous quick look learned me that BBFman must be right. And, in a matter of fact, that mansion is built in the exploration-line as "wanted" for the contest. Knight Mansion has to be explored several times before finding the perfect way to find EVERYTHING.

Knight Mansion - easy by ashleyxsunshine
I need help on knight manor - easy. I don't know how to get past the room with the ladders and zappers in it. Help!!!!!!!!
------------------------
Re: Knight Mansion - easy by Wingy
Which room exacly are you talking about? Press command + D in game in that room and the number in the upper-left corner is the room number. Tell me that number and I might be able to help!
------------------------
Re: Knight Mansion - easy by Semi-Native
I think you mean Room 15907? If so, just watch the beams carefully and you should be able to plan your path.Good luck! 8-)
------------------------
Re: Knight Mansion - easy by gadgetguy
Arrgh, I am having the same problem, is that room ACTUALLY possible? The first beam you see when you get up flashes off for like a split second but not long enough for Jack to get through!!! Grr... soooo frustrating!!!
------------------------
Re: Knight Mansion - easy by Freddy
IF we are really talking about room 15907, then ... you don't need to cross any zapper beam. Just use the ladders around them to reach the only lever in that room. It is just a small maze. Continuing is easy after pulling that lever.
------------------------
Re: Knight Mansion - easy by gadgetguy
duh....
------------------------
Re: Knight Mansion - easy by suztours
It's okay, gadgetguy - just be patient and look at everything when you enter a room - most mansions (at least the included ones) are puzzles that must be solved as well as rooms to explore - you'll get the hang of it.Enjoy! В ;Dsuzanne

Cathedral Towers Hard JS's by ryos
Hey,I'm on a quest to play all the hard mansions (I got derailed months ago by downloading all custom mansions at once). I've just finished Cathedral Towers, and of course, I found two Jack-stucks! 8-)The first, in 15903. If you get the secret, then switch the blocks to gold, then die, you will be stuck in the secret entrance with no way out.The second, in 14692, is quite a bit less likely to happen, but it could. If you happen to jump up the blocks on the right of the room, you can jump up behind the blue door. If you've not yet gotten the blue key, you'll be stuck. (Since I had the key, I just had to try it. )</bug reporting mode>The level took me longer than any other built-in mansion to complete (we'll see what happens when I reach Spider Palace Hard...). Sadly, the game crashed when I tried to report my score. I would have had 6th place. :'(I didn't remember the level being so long! Is the hard version longer than the others? I kept thinking, "man, this is like that song that never ends, except it's a mansion!" Nevertheless, it was great fun; me like.

How does it open? It won't work in Quicktime or MM.

Go into MM. Press Command + Space Bar. Then it should unfull screen MM. Go into the menu bar and click "Play movie." Locate it and it will go back to full screen. Then get popcorn! (And maybe В [smiley=beer.gif] and [smiley=birthdays.gif]) В В ;D

Re: The Oh my Godd Movie by Mikee
Someone from you actually already played to the end the whole Midnight Mansion. Thus from Easy to Hard of everything easily?
------------------------
Re: The Oh my Godd Movie by Freddy
I don't know if it was easily. But, yes, players did.See the World High Scores from Spider Palace. You can't play and finish Spider Palace unless you played all the other mansions before. In all 3 difficulties.
------------------------
Re: The Oh my Godd Movie by Mikee
I know already Freddy, but it is already heavily difficulty-gradates from hard to make finished! I find it at all a miracle which I 3 Mansion in the hard have. But train makes the master В В

Spider Palace Hard by Spiak
Okay, I have struggled, and cheated, and finally gotten all the way through Spider Palace Hard, but I am missing one secret. I'm compiling a list of the ones I found and wondered if anyone who got 100% could look it over and give me a hint where I should be looking for the other one.
------------------------
Re: Spider Palace Hard by Spiak
Well, that's all it took. When I started making the list I discovered one that I skipped when I replayed the mansion (without cheating).

Knight Mansion, Easy and the red key by Pickles
Okay, I must be nuts. After 5 times through this mansion, I'm always missing one lone red key at the end. I get to room 16710 and can't open that last door.I'd sure appreciate someone sharing the secret of where all the red keys are to be found.
------------------------
Re: Knight Mansion, Easy and the red key by Semi-Native
I'm not 100% sure this is right, but I think you have to play the top part of this mansion correctly in order to end up with the extra red key. 8-)
------------------------
Re: Knight Mansion, Easy and the red key by Pickles
Hmmm ... thought I had, but I'll go back through my saves and look.
------------------------
Re: Knight Mansion, Easy and the red key by Freddy
I don't have a clear answer yet, but at my last save in room 16110, before going down the pole to the bottom area, I already had one red key. I also checked that complete lower area again and there is indeed only one red key for two red doors. So I am also wondering if these involves a Jack-stuck.
------------------------
Re: Knight Mansion, Easy and the red key by brell
Actually it is not a JS but it seems you cannot open the red door to the small treasure in the final area if you don't have a red key with you from the saving point above.
------------------------
Re: Knight Mansion, Easy and the red key by Freddy
Of course!! : Was a week away ...
------------------------
Re: Knight Mansion, Easy and the red key by Freddy
At last I found it. The question is not: where is the missing key?! Between save 2 and 3, in the area with the gold/silver puzzle, the trick is NOT to open the red door with the red key you find nearby. Because there is really no need to.Is a stunning puzzle, in my opinion. 8-)

Indiana Jones syndrome by ryos
Hello. My name is ryos and I... :'(...I have Indiana Jones syndrome!*pants*Say what? Oh, it means I hate snakes. I think snakes kill me more than any other monster. They sit there all smug, rattle-hissing, daring you to jump just a little too soon or late and...BAM! You dead.Makes me wish that giant spiders would catch them too. There is something extremely satisfying about a spider nabbing a monster.*group therapy session leader* "Thank you, ryos, for sharing. Who would like to share with us next?"

Re: Indiana Jones syndrome by Scout
LOL. Speaking of Indiana Jones, I'll share...I have a fear of being underwater and, along with that, all the nasty critters like sharks that lurk there. So was amused to find myself trying to avoid those levels in the game "Indiana Jones and the Emperors Tomb" where Indy has to swim and battle sharks and crocs. Had to keep reminding myself... IT'S JUST A GAME.There. I feel much better.

Chateau de Medusa - Hard by mermaid
I'm on the chateau de medusa - hard level and have tried everything but can't get the lantern. Could someone give me a hint?

Re: Chateau de Medusa - Hard by aquaMat
For questions like these, I advise all people to name the room numbers (press cmd-D while playing), so we have a chance to find out which room you are talking about.

Re: Chateau de Medusa - Hard by Semi-Native
Are you in room 18891? If so, there were some silver coins when you entered the room. Those coins are very important. Try everything. Let us know if you still need a hint. 8-)

Mermaid, don't feel stupid. I think lots of people (including me) get stuck the first time they come across those coins. You don't know it's a lever. I saw it in the forums, that's how I learned. 8-)
