Information from the author:

Jack finds himself in the middle of nowhere. He doesn't know how he got there and where he came from. This time he doesn't have a mission.

But he is still curious.

He wants to find out what he's doing here....and if there's a way out again. And maybe.....just maybe... he will find a treasure along the way.

This mansion is HARD.
As usual Jack will have to keep his eyes open, all his senses alert.
The key to solving this mansion lies in the central, so-called
Inner Sanctum
of The Void.

I strongly recommend to play in Full Screen Mode only, preferably with the room lights dimmed, in order to see all details and not miss the smaller hints.

In The Void, Jack has to crawl, climb, jump and slide a bit more than usual. Exploration factor is high......

Difficulty: HARD
Size: 60 rooms, 4 save pedestals

Custom Mansions cause crash - HELP!
Posted by: qbert27 - 02-04-2008, 04:02 AM - Forum: Game Bugs ?! - Replies (6)

When I play version 1.1.2, I have no problems, but when I try to open a mansion I have downloaded, I get a system kernel panic and have to restart. This does not happen on my G4 Quicksilver - just my G5 quad 2.5 GHz PPC running 10.4.11 with 5 GB SDRAM.

Any suggestions on a fix?

I've spent a frustrating week trying to leap from a zinging fast block to the base of the ladder but keep hitting the pole back down to spider land...is there some special trick to this jump? I am really sick of being in HELL and could use some help here.

  Coin Balance
Posted by: Alanfalcon - 02-02-2008, 10:46 AM - Forum: Custom Mansions / Designing - Replies (1)

So when adjusting Falcon Manor recently, I decided to take advantage of a feature that didn't exist when originally creating the Manor, which is a count of the total number of coins. This would have worked differently before it was possible to reach every room in the mansion, but now I think of it as a neat little feature that if you get 100% score, you'll have a nice round number (i.e. 40,000 points.)

This is particularly easy to do if you just load up the final (treasure) room(s) with coins and money bags until you reach your desired total, as long as you remember to edit it again later if you make changes earlier in the mansion.

The point of this thread is not about even numbered point totals, though, it is more to do with coins/money bags throughout a mansion:

How do you decide how much of a reward players should get while playing through a mansion? Do you just play the game and see how many lives you think you need, and add some more? Do you just add coins where you think it would be nice to have coins? Do you go for a specific reward/room or reward/death trap ratio? And how does your expectation of the intended difficulty level for a mansion affect this decision?

Hi!
Jack is in room 9115 and haven't got the green key. He can't get back up to get it. He wasn't aware that he had to explore to the left before he went to the right when he came down the ladder in the room to right of the green keys room (Sorry I don't have room numbers here)
New mansion soon: "The Void"
Posted by: aquaMat - 02-01-2008, 04:34 PM - Forum: Void, The - Replies (34)

Dear fellow mansioneers:

I like to mention that I'm almost finished with a new (1.0.9.) mansion, called
The Void
.

It will be a normal-to-hard mansion, without custom graphics and pretty straightforward.....but.... slightly bizarre.

It has a goof
exploring factor
....Jack will have to climb and crawl and jump and slide a bit more than usual to find the Inner Sanctum of The Void. 8-) :-?

To wet your appetite, I'll be adding a screenshot later....

To Midnight Mansion-ers,

This is my first post.

I have been toying with a mansion which I may want to get beta tested at some point, when it is a bit more ready, if that is okay . . .

If you are interested, please let me know.
I can't get to a yellow & purple key on a red platform near the beginning of the mansion. There looks like an elevator platform should take you to them but I can't fine anything that will either trigger the platform to drop or the rock elevator to rise. Please help! I'm stuck!

  MM on MacBreak Tech
Posted by: Alanfalcon - 01-23-2008, 09:12 AM - Forum: General Issues - No Replies

I listen to a lot of podcasts... and I was listening to one of my favorites, MacBreak Tech, where a bunch of Mac using geeks ramble on about Mac Things. Specifically, I was listening to the Resolutions episode and towards the end, John Foster mentioned that the New Year was time for a new game, and he thought Midnight Mansion looked really interesting. Don't think he'd downloaded and actually played it yet, but it was still a thrill to hear it mentioned! Hopefully he does download the game and get hooked. Feel free to go to their website and post, telling John to check it out! 8-)
