Vern, OK - I'm puzzled, I just created a simple test mansion to see if the
lever-on-moving-platform
scenario was affected by the change. It wasn't, but that wasn't the only thing I tested. I tested:

- Lever on falling platform
- Lever in mid-air, briefly accessible from moving platform
- Lever on gold/silver block and jump to another block when lever toggles gold/silver blocks.

All of these cases still work as expected. So, what exploit did you fix? It looks like it wasn't what I thought it was.


Nevermind - boy do I feel dumb, my test mansion would be a custom mansion, and unaffected by your change.  :Smile

My original concern remains (stationary moving platform with activating lever on top). The more I think about it, though, the more I think it shouldn't be affected.

Having read most of the comments about the 'lever jump' (I'm with Brell about considering it almost a regular part of MM1&2, but I'll agree, that's just from playing a lot of custom mansions), I find myself wondering how the functionality can be taken out for regular mansions in HD, yet be able to put into custom mansions (that is, without major programming skills on the mansion developer's part).

Vern, can you explain it for the slower ones of us (me, that is)? :-? Thanks.

It's a simple matter for the engine programmer to apply different behavior to custom mansions and included mansions. All he needs to do is set a flag when loading custom mansions, then check that flag in the code that implements the lever jump to see whether it should run.

I am getting nervous about this. I think I use lever jump in original mansion on non moving ground to get away from spider and such near a lever I pull. I think I use it anyway!

Can someone tell me what all this is about?

I did all the deletions recommended by Vern when I downloaded the B5 app the other day.

Finally had time to
futz around
and follow SoItBegins' instructions to include the mikmod framework to Beta5.

Resulted in game not opening, but I got an error message:

The Java JAR file “org.eclipse.ui.console_3.3.0.v20080529-1300.jar” could not be launched.


So.. Off to the Console, where I found:

My only idea is that:
Episode 1 detected on this computer.
  might be a bad thing somehow. 

All software is current (if that means anything in this case).

mikmod framework is in its proper place.

Finally made it work. I jusr had to read EVERYTHING Ver n wrote!!! 8-)

1. It's not a good idea to make instructions confusing. I wish Vern, that you'd uploaded a fixed B5.

2. I followed instructions exactly. Four times.

3. the 4th time I threw out the whole Actionsoft folder from Application Support, it worked. The app opened.

thanks to Scirocco for being supportive on IM while I got progressively more pissed off.  Beta testing doesn't have to be easy, but it shouldn't be perilous.

When I select
Open mansion
on the starting screen I get the Resources folder within the Contents folder within the MM HD beta 5 application bundle. Anyone else getting this and why does it happen?
Of course I can select the correct folder and then the custom mansion I want to test.
