I have a good reason for asking this. I am checking Art Minds Mansion by Veronika and just found out that sign was not working properly as it crashed the game. This you propably cannot find out via the builder.
Some - very few - I'm playing from start to finish. I didn't really believe it would be necessary though.
The real answer to your question is I am checking in both. By this I mean that I take a pass in the builder, and I also load it as a zip file into the game (but not the latest one on the app store). I use the last beta, where I can use
enable arrow keysto jump quickly from room to room (much like you can do in the builder) and test specific things, and play short areas. I haven't been checking every sign, but I have been doing the necessary changes to file names when needed. I didn't see anything that worried me. Which room are you seeing the problem in art minds? I wonder if it is a specific case that I can write a script to check for. If so, then that's something I can run against all the mansions pretty easily.
I do know that in this mansion, there are two data files for signs that are both empty. Perhaps these are related? Hard to say.
However, this should come as no real surprise as I said pretty much from the start how I was approaching this. My guess was that there would likely be small things like this that might surface. Once these are identified and the mansion is converted, it takes me little time to write programs that can go through mansions in my directory, and find other instances. In many cases, I could actually write something to fix these issues as well.
