List of cm's that work in MM1 HD - brell - 08-21-2011 Here is what I have checked so far and definitely works in the HD version (minor changes were needed in some mansions, though): brell: A resort for retired goldhunters Back to square one The pirate invasion Three way mansion Freddy: A deserted holiday village A room of one's own Bedlam House of wonders Landlord's pub Midnight mazes and monsters Return of the falcon The 7th key The wall Whiskey bar (not an accepted cm) Joeb: Helter skullter easy Matt and Joes' intro The Mall Others: Catacombs (many authors) Echo keep (Miss Lemon) One room (Alexander) Sky Boxes (Semi-Native) The Dalton brothers (Alexander) I think we should all test our own cm's and perhaps divide between us to contact other authors. I can try to contact Psychotronic, Freddy, Joeb and Maniac if you like. Yes - and it would probably even be better/easier to see the ones that have been converted. The only reason I suggested that, is that if the lists were combined it would also be relatively easy to see those that haven't been converted. Instead of that though... how about if we go with the separate list, and then at the bottom list those that *haven't* been converted due to some problem or the other? Many, if not most from the first two categories I've already converted. The criteria I've used to break them up is unbiased and as non-subjective as possible. It's certainly not based on any personal likes or dislikes. PASS: 1. These converted without any additional work. These mansions either had preview Pict resources, or had TEXT resources that needed to be corrected (the name attribute needed to be removed). Otherwise, no corrections needed to be made. They had no custom graphics, and were unaffected by recent changes to MM HD. I made the appropriate corrections as needed as I was testing the mansions. No editor was required. - Catacombs Done by brell! - A Deserted Holiday Village Done by brell! - The Mansion Family - Mind Mines - Done! - Questing for the Rainbow Key - Done! - Three-way Mansion Done by brell! - Turtle Mansion - Done! // Checked! - The Warrior - Done! // Checked! FAIL: 3. These mansions contained no custom graphics, but were affected by recent changes to the game. These will need to be corrected by someone with a working builder - preferably the original designer. Fixes to these mansions need to be coordinated with the designer. Some of these changes are extremely minor and easy to fix, others are much more involved. Rather than trying to draw any sort of line, I think it's best to simple talk with the original designers and suggest corrections rather than making any changes ourselves. - Brother from Another Planet - Cranes (thin ghost platforms: 16698/16699) - Luris (most levers are unusable, thin ghost platforms: 12298/12299) - otg Alpha Mansion (broken levers) - The Underground Fortress (lots of broken levers) - PACI-Freak Express (unusable levers) 4. The following mansions use some form of custom graphics. As in category 3, not all cases are the same, but rather than simply worry about individual cases, I think it's best to lump them together for the time being, and come back to them later. As I mentioned before, I include mansions with custom backgrounds in this group. Some of these mansions look fine without custom graphics, others do not. Designers should be the ones to decide whether or not custom graphics can be trimmed out. Also, I feel it's worth waiting on these to give Vern a chance to fine-tune the mechanism for custom backgrounds to be incorporated in the same zip file as the other resources. - The Birdcage (5 custom images) - Church (4 backgrounds, 2 mp3) - The Complex (6 custom images) - Discotheque of Doom (37 custom images) - Dominator (lots of work here: 3 mp3, 5 backgrounds, Custom Sprites/Graphics/Sounds file) - The Four Tubes (10 custom images) - House of Coine (2 custom images) - Immortal Ruins (4 custom backgrounds) - Jack Malone and the Temple of Tombs (32 custom images) - JUMP! (3 custom images) - Les Catacombs Rouges (1 custom image) - The Mansion Family A Wondrous Place (2 custom images) - The Money Pit (2 custom images) - The Mummy's Revenge (11 custom images) - Oline's Coffeehouse - Panther Mansion (barely uses custom graphics) - Perpetuum Mobile - Raedeka - Starcraft 1 - Starcraft 2 - Starcraft 3 - Testing Mansion - The Void (Custom graphics 2 sprites - minor change) My personal feeling for the mansions with custom graphics is that we shouldn't move them over for HD until we can guarantee a presentation as close as possible to the original game. One problem with these lists... if Vern makes any other changes at this point which break additional mansions, a lot of this work will need to be done again, unless I can come up with an automated way of checking for it, which is possible, but not trivial.

I'll be away this weekend but in next week we should start contacting authors about minor changes to cm's without cg's and uploading the working mansions. Re: List of cm's that work in MM1 HD - RobSeegel - 08-26-2011 Thoroughis relative here. ![]() I've been going room-by-room in the editor, and leaning heavily on the enable arrow keyscheat/test code in the new game to quickly go through the mansions. Occasionally, I'll stop to play a few suspicious areas. I was looking for specific issues, and to see if anything jumped out at me like graphical glitches. It's highly possible I missed things that we haven't noticed in the new game yet. My thinking here, is that generally these mansions have been tested, and played over the years - most major problems would have already surfaced and hopefully been corrected by now. Even if that wasn't the case, looking for the normal issues was a bit outside the scope of what I was hoping to do. I was just hoping to get a better idea of the task, perhaps prioritize the work, and reduce the amount of effort required by designers. I had only planned on contacting those designers whose mansions fell in category 3. Possibly category 4 as well, but I'm less sure about that since there may be further changes to help with storing custom graphics. As you can see, I've been steadily adding to the list as I go through mansions. I think there may only be a handful left to look at. Perhaps there's some way we can split up the uploading chores. Re: List of cm's that work in MM1 HD - RobSeegel - 08-26-2011 Brell, If you've fixed any mansion that I have in Category 3 or 4, let me know, and I'll move it Category 1. I deliberately missed a few of yours and Freddy's mansions early on, because I knew you were taking care of them. As you can see *most* of the issues I've run into are due to levers being positioned so that their base rests one tile below where Jack is walking, and I'm not running into that in a lot of mansions. I'm going to try and write a script that can search for those cases in a mansion, identify the room they appear in, and perhaps even move the levers up. It's an option we can offer those designers who have to deal with it. Mostly, I was curious to see how difficult it would be to write. We are only testing the cm playability in the HD. Not Jack-stucks or anything like that. |
