How about adding up to three more shields (behind some of the locked doors), plus maybe one in that underground area in the lead up to the castle.
I haven't stopped to count the treasure yet, but I think you might consider having at least 2000-3000 around leading up the save point. Enough for at least two more Jacks. You could replace some of those silver coins behind doors with gold. For Hard mansions I feel like silver is best used for mostly ornamental or functional purposes (dark rooms).
I think that getting to that first save point is pretty crucial or a player. It gives them a toehold into the mansion, and an obvious mark of progress. I'm not saying that you should give it away... but it is pretty rough to get to.
