Yes, but there is also a shield in the very same room, behind the left column. You can see its outline pulse red. I'm pretty sure Jacob intended for observant players to see the shield, take it, and kill the snake with it for max money score. I'm inclined to leave it as-is. Thoughts?
Actually, it is possible to jump over the snake and get the coin without dying, because I've done it. But the shield there also is a life saver. 8-)
