Midnight Mansion 2 v1.0.1 Released
Posted by: Wingy - 09-12-2010, 01:47 AM - Forum: Midnight Mansion Updates - Replies (1)

Today, Vern released 1.0.1 of Midnight Mansion incase any of you haven't already seen from his blog. From the blog:

Midnight Mansion 2: The Haunted Hills, has been updated to version 1.0.1. This version fixes a number of bugs, and is a free upgrade to all registered users of Midnight Mansion 2. The update can be downloaded here:

http://www.actionsoft.com/games/midnightmansion2/download.php

Game fixes:

- Fixed a bug where the game would quit during startup, right after loading all sprites, with an error in “GameScreens.c” line number 887, if your hard drive was formatted in Case Sensative Journaled HFS+ format.
- Fixed various mistakes and typos in the documentation.
- Level designers can now have T triggers that reveal enemies which must be killed in order for H triggers to go off. Previously if you tried this, the H triggers did nothing.
- Fixed inconsistencies in font used to display “Mansion Complete” stats.
- Changed fonts used for text on various screens.
- Reduced download size.

Mansion fixes:

- Jasperlone Mountains Easy – Fixed the grey door in a elevator shaft on the castle side of the mansion which prevented you from continuing
- Jasperlone Mountains Hard – Added grey doors and zapper beams in a elevator shaft to prevent Jack-stucks
- Fixed secret count in Leofani Manor Easy and Normal. (Previously, you could only get 95% in Easy, and could get over 100% in Normal.)
- Fixed secret counts in Mt. Peril Easy. (Previously you could get over 100%.)
- Leofani Manor Normal – fixed bug in room 16904, where jumping on a blue bat platform enough times would give you access to areas of the mansion you shouldn’t be able to reach yet.
- Fixed Jack’s starting location in Castle Basano Normal. Previously Jack could not get all the coins in the starting area.
- Fixed Jack’s starting location in all versions of Magma Peak.
- Citadel of Dr. Cassiopus: fixed areas where Jack could get permanently stuck in normal and hard versions.
- Fixed areas in Mt. Peril where you could get stuck if you jumped off a wodden platform “elevator” right after activating it with the lever.
- Mt. Peril – Fixed room 15708 (all difficulties) so Jack can’t get stuck in this room if he goes back in, after having already gotten everything and left.
- Mt. Peril – Fixed room 16300 (all difficulties) where Jack could get stuck by moving over the left gray door into the save point area while going up the platform from the room below.
- Updated versions of the Custom Mansions: The Caves and the Castle, and Trigger Island. These mansions have various fixes.
- Fixed “thhings” typo in a sign in the Tutorial Mansion.

 Favorite music track?
Posted by: VernJensen - 09-11-2010, 11:22 PM - Forum: Game Improvements - Replies (4)

I'm curious if anyone has favorite music track(s) from the sequel. And, any track(s) they don't feel work as well? Just curious.

You can open up Game Data (Exp) and Music and play Background Music tracks 5 through 9 in QuickTime to hear them.

My own personal favorites, from third place to first:

Third place: Track #5
Second place: Track #6 (however this can't be overused or it gets to be too much)
First place: Track #9 (this is a return to the original music's
background
style, and it has an awesome groove to it, and it's very reusable without getting to be too much)

Least favorite: #8, because it doesn't
blend into the background
very well, so I can't listen to it too long before it gets to be too much.

Curious what others think though!

 Dr. Demented's Den Hard
Posted by: MTGA - 09-11-2010, 06:40 PM - Forum: Included Mansions - Replies (9)

having two problems:

Save pedestals behind blue doors

Jack has spotted several save pedestals behind blue doors along with a blue and green key but can't for the life of him (literally...) find a single blue key to open even one of these.
is there a blue key to be had anywhere in the first area (where you go down into 16096 and then to the left) or anywhere else in the mansion?

Rooms 15707/15097 area

after coming through the two red doors in 15704 with no more keys left, Jack is now stuck in the silver/gold puzzle area.
the trick seems to be getting a purple key to open one of the doors in order to proceed but that doesn't seem to be possible.
any suggestions/hints on how to proceed?

 World-first Jasperlone Mountains Hard
Posted by: Wingy - 09-11-2010, 01:35 PM - Forum: Included Mansions - No Replies

Well, it seem our first person has beaten Jasperlone Mountains Hard with 100% secrets and only missing 75 points in the score, which is pretty impressive.

Congrats, Miguel!

This is quite the hard feat if I say so myself, seeing having 100% secrets includes the two secrets in the bonus extra-hard area below the finishing area, so this is quite the accomplishment. 8-)

 Citadel of Dr. Cassiopus EASY
Posted by: Semi-Native - 09-11-2010, 01:27 PM - Forum: Included Mansions - Replies (11)

In 16519, the snakes reappeared after Jack ducked and they flew overhead past him. He couldn't trigger them again, so he had to die 3 times to get past them.

Trigger Island Saved Games -- 1.0.1 problem!
Posted by: VernJensen - 09-11-2010, 07:19 AM - Forum: Game Bugs ?! - No Replies

I just realized that version 1.0.1's version of Trigger Island is incompatible with saved games created in 1.0.0. If you open it, you'll get this message you see below.

I'll be sending out an email about this to the ActionSoft mailing list. However, if anyone reports trouble with the message below, please tell them to delete any saved games they created with the 1.0.0 version of the game. My apologies about this! Tried to avoid this, but now that it's done, I can't really do anything about it now.
