Custom Empty Mansion

Fellow mansioneers......Matt and I are going to be putting out an empty mansion with a set of graphics from our mansions. We'd like to know which graphics you all would like to see in the mansion. If you can find a room with the brick or background you like and use Grab to get a small section and post it. If someone has already posted the brick just reference the post. We'll give this a couple of weeks and then release a composite.M&J

Very generous of you...!I guess, generally it'll be better to have a basic set containing things like wall-bricks, sand, snow, wallpaper, grass and flowers, rather than specific things like your custom creatures etc.This way there'd still be room for a designer's own creative input (if needed) and the resulting mansions won't look like a complete copy of the "Matt & Joe world".That's just my 2 euro-cents, though.....

Ghosthunter is a mansion for the expansion pack and will not be released until the EP is out. В It was pre-released to those that participated in the EP contest last summer.

Radeka uses a lot of the GH graphics except for the screens.@Sandy:Opening, yes that's rain. The XP has precipitation

I think it's around 100 rooms. That's what we usually target as our size, nice round number. Speaking of the XP any ideas on when. I'll probably redo GH and then post it. There were a couple of things I'd like to change.Joe B

Sandy,It's another level of difficult because of the added XP features but it does have a spiffy look and when you play it you'll be reminded of Radeka. I'd say play another XP mansion when the pack gets released because we use the new features a lot and they can spring up on you until you start looking for them. Hopefully the XP will come out soon as we have 2 other mansions ready to go but they're XP only. One of them is the follow on to GH and Radeka was sort of based on it. You'll see.....M&JThanks for the compliment BTW

Yeah, when I start with custom graphics, I'll probably use some of your stuff (if it's okay with you of course) But that won't be until the expansion is released. Anyway, I got my high school В applications in and now we're going on a little ski trip! I will see everyone in two days.

Layers?

I make my own littles mansions for many mounths, And it's just today i discover layers  :-X !!! I know with them i can hide Jack or other things, or make ladders. But is the someone who can explain me better how do they work ?

Welcome on the boards, Gaelmac.  Have you read the level builder manuals that came with the game in the Level Builder Docs folder?  The layers are explained there.  In short you use the following layers:0 for background4 is the main building layer5 is mainly used for ladders6 is for foreground (in front of Jack).Hope this helps

music problem...

Yeah, i have a music problem  I would to make that in that music folder of MM, but when I have made this and write the right number at the music and at the mansion, i hear not from the music. I don't know but it's a midi File. I had to try this in a mp3 file but i can't hear the music. And now what i must make?

Mikee,MM can't handle MIDI files. You must put an AUDIO file (in mp3 format) into the Game Data > Music folder, assigned with the correct number and then everything will work just fine.

I'm not sure I understand correctly what you're asking ?!Could you maybe repeat the question in German ?If you're asking how you could use the music even if it is a MIDI file, well, that is possible but I wouldn't recommend it.What you need to do:1. You need a MIDI-capable synthesizer (either as hardware or as a software synth application within your computer).2. You'll have that synthesizer play the MIDI file in question and3. Record the output as an audio file.4. The resulting audio file will most probably be in AIFF format, Stereo, 16 bit / 44,1 kHz... В which means you have to...5. Convert the AIFF audio into the mp3 format, using a good converter application such as Audacity etc.You see it's not that easy and I'm pretty sure it is not worth all the hassle, since most MIDI files sound really poor, as long as you do not use a high class synthesizer with good sounds.Why don't you use a music file that is already in mp3 format (and to which you have the rights, of course) ??

Ahh aqua В  It's now all okay! I have make the sound now... on GarageBand. I have buy today iLife. iPhoto, iWeb, iDVD, iMovie and GarageBand. Yeah a nice CD В But the iMovie is doesn't work on my computer i have already an G4. But my dad have G5... В 8-)Mavbe i buy next time an mac mini or so... В

Christmas backgrounds!

Here's half of my christmas present to everyone- some x-mas backgrounds! They're a snowy scene that includes a moon, snow on the ground, clouds, pure snow, and an inside as well. Well, here ya go! BTW- (this was made in photoshop if anyone asks)

Background maker: Painter X

I just got a trial version of Painter X (www.corel.com) is great for making backgrounds for Midnight Mansion. There's a free trial there.This image I painted in 3 minutes... If I put a bit more effort into it, then it would become a great background for Midnight Mansion.I first paint-bucketed the background dark blue, then did a few angled strokes of an oil brush with a slightly brighter blue to make that nice Midnight sky. The ground I used a green and a normal brush, and the trees on the ground where just  dark-greenish-brown color. The stars where just white dots, just clicked with a normal brush at a reasonable size. The moon, was a nice detail. It was like doing the star, (just clicking once, not dragging, with a bigger brush) Then I got a smaller brush and drew the craters and stuff on the moon with a normal grey tone.Then I got this picture... took me 3 minutes.

WELL.............Maybe not a couple of weeks.How is everyone doing? I had some health hiccups but I'm back around now. I was going to wait awhile longer but I got such nice emails from everyone that I decided to make a quick stop in. I'll be stopping in occasionally for a month or so (PT will be taking some time) but I'll definitely will be back. You can make invisible bricks on layer 0,5 and 6, I think, lol. On layer 6 you can make secrets, so you can make a option for this, you must only look at extras. Then you can make the Bricks are full or half or so xD maybe Brell or Freddy can better translate that...

That's mighty fine gradient work of yours... let me guess... you used one of the Following:Adobe PhotoShop CSFlash MX CSAdobe Illustrator CSPainter XOr you used some-unproffession painting program? I usually use Color It! Nice backgrounds. Might use them, sometimes.But the thing we really need... is new Characters! Artists, get your brushes!I've done my Ted charater, (Look at my Avatar) and Joeb has done his nice JAC and in that StarCraft thing I made I used a effect in Photoshop to put a force-feild around Jack so he could survive in space. If only we had some crazy-good artist who could make us some more charaters...*Idea* Or... we could all bribe Jacob (the artist of MM) to make us some more charaters! : ;D
