Re: Why is MM is NOT on youtube.com
Posted by: VernJensen - 06-03-2009, 09:51 PM - Forum: Speaker's Corner - Replies (16)

That's a good idea, actually. Could anyone help me out with this?

First, are there any good free video-capture programs for the Mac? (Ambrosia's costs a pretty penny.)

If so, post the name here. Then, if you all could take video of various bits of mansions, and send me your videos, I could edit them down to something cool and post it somewhere. :-)

Seriously excited about Insectoid and a few questi
Posted by: drabyss78 - 06-02-2009, 12:47 AM - Forum: Speaker's Corner - Replies (8)

SmileHello all,

New/ffirst time poster here, though I[ch8217]ve looked/dropped in many times.

Was just wondering if anyone else here is as excited as I am about the forthcoming Insectoid? Man, I have been DYING for a game like this for the Mac and just can[ch8217]t wait to pick up a copy! There is a wealth of great retro shooters for Windows (Alien Stars, the Star Defender games, and Gurdian--to name a few--come to mind). While there is some fantastic retro shooters for the OS X (Ultratron, Jets n Guns Gold, Space Tripper, Deimos Rising and Firefall (Pangea Arcade), are particular faves), I long for a good old fashioned Galaga type game like Star Defender and I know that this game is going to be just the ticket.

Ok, part two, and apologies for rambling...

Questions regarding the game for Vern, Alan Falcon and Wingy: Re: the screenshots in the previous thread [ch8220]Insectoid[ch8221]: will the backgrounds in [ch8220]insectoid.jpg[ch8221] and [ch8220]insectoid2.jpg[ch8221] be used in the game? They are sweet! Also, love the look of the some of the aliens in the somewhat later screenshot [ch8220]insectoiid001.jpg[ch8221]--will they appear in later stages?

Lastly, have you guys posted any preview video of the game anywhere?

Apolgoies to all if the the barrage of questions has been too tedious and thanks in advacne for any replies.
beta tester wanted
Posted by: otg - 05-31-2009, 07:20 PM - Forum: MM1 Talk (Mac only) - Replies (2)

Here we go again Smile
I have a small (about 50 rooms) mansion which is almost finished.
It's different from the other mansions I've built, and I hope it'll be of some enjoyment Smile

Therefore, I need a beta tester. No panic, but it's as good as finished

THE COMPLEX: Another aquaMat mansion coming soon
Posted by: aquaMat - 05-25-2009, 01:38 PM - Forum: Complex, The - Replies (25)

Dear friends,

I like to announce that Rose and myself are currently beta-testing my latest creation. During design and testing it used to have the working title
Matt's Maze
, but I plan to release it very soon under the official name of

THE COMPLEX

It is no
real maze
but it is in fact a huge complex of aisles, corridors, tubes and shafts where it is very easy to get lost in.
It also has my usual share of
secret passages
etc., but I consider it to be a little easier than my last few mansions.

What's great about it (I hope): after a pretty linear beginning (on icy mountains) Jack is headin' underground into The Complex, where the player can pretty much decide freely where he wants to go next.

There are
many roads leading to Rome
so to speak, and even the order of the save pedestals is not necessarily fixed.

At times it gets linear again (without really noticing it the player is softly
guided
towards a certain direction, after all) and of course especially near the end.
However, it should provide fun for repeated plays (as I always intend my mansions to do), 'cause there are several hidden things or rooms etc. which probably won't be discovered the first time through.

Another feature that make repeated plays interesting is the fact that every game will be a bit different, as noted above.

There will be more than enough save points and a bit more money as usual to avoid frustration.

Look forward....it won't be long anymore (at least not on my side)...we're currently testing version 0.9.x !

PS: Thanks to Rose for her invaluable help in beta-testing.

 GraphicConverter
Posted by: josephine - 05-14-2009, 04:50 AM - Forum: Custom Mansions / Art - Replies (11)

Hi all- does anybody have experience using GraphicConverter? I can use it to access and modify graphics in the MM Sprites file (like changing a brick color.) But the saved changes don't show up in resource file. GC also lets me add/replace graphics to the file but those don't show up in the mansion builder either. Any ideas?

(Forgive my naive questions, I've read all the readme's and joeb's excellent tutorial but I'm still not sure if I need a resource editor with GC.)

Thanks!

 What happens to Catacombs ??
Posted by: aquaMat - 05-05-2009, 11:17 AM - Forum: Catacombs - Replies (30)

I wonder what's going on with Catacombs at the moment ??

I remember vaguely that someone was supposed to make the new section (sometime before Christmas or so), but I can't remember who it was.....

Is it still being built ?

I really wouldn't like to see this great collective creation disappear or slowly fade into oblivion !

After you open the link, scroll all the way down to the video interview with Aaron Russo.
This TRULY is a must see & should be passed around the world, for ALL OF OUR SAKES.

USA citizens are denied access thru the media to know the truth about what is really going on. And how sad that they keep sending their sons & daughters to a fraudulent war, that was set up by the greedy Federal Reserve and Politicians.
If the link does not open, then cut & paste it in the search engine.
Check out this Amazing New Apple Snow Leopard!
Posted by: hawaii - 04-30-2009, 01:39 AM - Forum: recycle - Replies (1)

Snow Leopard 'Screen Recording' Feature Allows Desktop Video Recording

AppleInsider reports on one new feature that has been found in the latest Snow Leopard developer seeds: screen recording.

Quote:

Similar in many ways to a feature long offered by Ambrosia Software through its Snapz Pro X utility, the option will allow users to capture in motion video their Mac's screen -- essentially video screenshots.

Such a feature will be particularly useful for software developers and educators, as it will simplify the process of creating video tutorials, software demonstrations, and anything else best captured in live motion as opposed to still shots.
The feature does step on the toes of some 3rd party developers (Snapz Pro, Screenflow) who have been offering a similar feature set as commercial applications.

Apple has been continuing to seed Mac OS X Snow Leopard builds to developers. The latest build (10A335) was delivered just yesterday. Early reports of that build indicate it's become even more stable and
polished
but no other new features have been noted.
