Post here when you try beta 6
#1
Since I'm planning on submitting to the Mac App Store today, please post here when you try beta 6, just to let me know if it works as expected. The big questions are:

- Does it launch without problems
- Does it play sound effects / music without problems
- Run in general as expected

You don't have to test a *lot* before posting, just enough to see that it seems to be working.

I have 2 mansions that worked fine. I had a intermittent door sound problem in Falcon manor, see dito.

Hi Vern,

No problems. It launches properly, plays sound effects and music OK (although the difference when
softer music
is checked in Options is minimal on my system).

The only thing I've noticed is a spelling mistake. Apparently we have a folder that doesn't exit! See picture below.

Right, I found the Softer music too and find that it is still to loud compared to the sound effects.

Launched and ran through 3 mansions. No problems at all.

The music is still way too loud (even with the
Softer
option) for my comfort.

The music didnðt start right away after launch. It slowly faded in, though.

Everything seems to be working fine for me.

Nope, no go. Static is heard at all times (I made a new topic about this).

BTW, I've submitted the game to the Mac App Store as of today, even though PPC Macs still don't play sound quite right, because the Mac App Store requires apps that are Intel-only, and 10.6 or higher, and everything works fine with that setup.

But for the ActionSoft version of the game, to be released in the next 1-3 months, I still need to fix stereo sound playback which isn't working on PPC.

Vern, I've tried out about half the mansions in 6, and it appears to be working okay. Only one minor thing (maybe the way it's designed to be?) is, the music takes a fraction of a second to kick in when HD initially loads. Seems to be while the initial screen is loaded/loading, but before it 'scrolls down' to the initial menu choices. Once HD gets going, no problems with the sound. On Great Escape (Normal, still need to test its other levels), the
next to top, next to leftmost
room (need to go back home and check the room number) - where Jack trips the vertically-moving platform that lifts him to the lever (to turn off the vertical zapper so he can get the purple key) - I've found that when Jack pulls the lever, if the timing is not just right, he falls and dies. But I think it's just the timing is trickier there, as I know I have been able to pull the lever and (by pressing the down arrow immediately) have Jack just go down with the platform without dying.

So far, looks good, Vern. Smile Thanks for all the work on HD!

Jim R.
