Beta 5 - Chateau de Medusa Easy
#1
...it's more like a medusa hive, if you ask me... anyway. Found several issues.

1. Rooms 18500, 18498, 18704, and 18709 all have the same kind of graphical glitch: odd blue-and-dirt half-brick edging on walls somewhere.

(this will be continued below as I can only post 3 images per post)

2. In room 18289, standing where Jack is standing (accessible by climbing straight down off the vine) then walking left will result in jack falling into the Unknown.

3. In room 18296, Jack appears to be standing on something invisible. Huh?

(continued below, again)

4. In room 18703 there's a little bit of the background poking out outside the brick 'enclosure' (look where the mouse cursor is in the image).

5. Finally, in room 18305, there is a hole in the background about where Jack is standing in the image.

That's all.

Excellent work, SoItBegins! Great finds. I've fixed them all, except for one thing: I don't see the
hold in the background
you're talking about in 18305. What do you mean? Can you explain more? I see nothing in the picture you sent, or in the editor looking at that room.

Oh! I see the hole now.

Unfortunately, that's unfixable. It's due to how this
Hall of Illusions
breaks some
how it was meant to be used
rules, and there is no way to fix this tiny graphical glitch unless the mansion's design is changed.

Definitely. Initially, I had made a small attempt at
fixing
some of the weird things here, but in the end had to roll it all back because it disrupted the intentional trickery.

Vern, what was the deal with some of those strange graphical glitches? Some of that stuff looked different in the builder than the final product. I had seen it before, but was unable to correct it. I'm specifically talking about 18500 and 18704. I could have sworn I saw something kind of like it in ToE, but more subtle.

Rob -- I'm not quite sure. When I use the
eyedropper
tool in those rooms in layer 4, it selects a non-empty tile! But obviously, nothing visible shows up here. Most likely, a tile's
fringe
was used here in layer 4 -- a fringe that is completely empty (i.e. invisible), but it messes up the new HD version.

The problem is easily fixed by using the selection tool to select the area with the non-empty tiles in those spots and deleting it.

If you ever see the same thing in any other mansion (you mentioned ToE -- do you mean ToP?), let me know... I'd definitely like to fix it.

You can easily check for the issue by selecting any brick tile and the fill tool and
filling in
the entire room in layer 4. Any bricks NOT filled in, that should be, have non-0 tileIDs in them, and need to be fixed. (And then
undo
of course!)

BTW, when the eyedropper tool shows a tile in the tile area that isn't the same as what you clicked on in the editor area, it means one of the tiles *not* shown in the editor area is what was drawn in that location. Lots of tiles aren't shown in the top area, because they were never meant to be used directly by end users. Mainly, all the tile fringe pieces (top and right pseudo-3D pieces that the editor auto-draws in layers 1-3).
