When this part of the beta testing was announced, this:

I'd been playing MM1 and MM2 happily on my then computer, a 17 inch iMac Intel Core Duo running OS 10.6.8.

Before the first HD Beta was posted, I switched to a new computer.

Yesterday I decided to try out the beta3 on my old machine.

The game ALMOST opened, then blinked and disappeared.  Tried twice.

added question: Vern, is it ok if I use my registration data for MM games on the old computer, too? I obviously wouldn't be playing on both machines at once.

I ask because while I was there, I opened MM2 and the registration information (yes, I admit I tried it) wouldn't
stick
. Every time it went online to validate the SN, the game rejected the information.

Mick -- If you have problems with your registration, follow the advice in the FAQ that comes with MM2 for this issue. It's rare, and occurs when you copy over your license information from a former computer.

MM HD does not use registration information currently.

Oh, and mick -- what is your old machine that it doesn't run on? Can you post the system info and OS version for it?

mick -- any chance you can send me the console log after you try to launch Midnight Mansion HD on your system that won't run it?

You'll find
Console
in

Applications / Utilities

Start it up, and choose
Open Console Log
from the FIle menu.

Click on
Console Messages
in the pane at the left (near the top). Whatever messages at the bottom are from Midnnight Mansion -- select and copy these and email them to me at:

vern AT actionsoft DOT com

Thanks!

Also, does a window appear when you try to launch the app?

Also, could you be more specific about what you mean when you say the game *almost* opened? If you see anything at all (ActionSoft logo screen, sprite/tile loading screen) let me know what you see before it quits.

Sad Can't.

It's entirely possible that what happened was a sign of imminent computer death. Which happened last night. Actually, I think it's the HD, and I'll replace it at some point when I've got time.

The reason I think it was a sign of trouble with the computer is that the Beta runs just fine on the old G3 iBook.

ps...Vern, I'm sending you a PM with a rundown on my registration problem.

Okay, but I hate PM's. :-( Messages to my ActionSoft email address are always highly preferred!

No worries though, I'll respond to your PM shortly.
