Only if you not are quick enough is it a cheap death.

True Rose, but I still think it is a bit unfair.

Yes, I do agree but it is the hard mansion. That is why I never said anything about it while testing the mansion. I agree that the skeleton could be more visible than it is right now.

You have to be vigilant and see the skeleton beforehand and be watching if it's going to rise. I know it's kind of hard to see with the map and the bars in front of it, but that's just because it's on hard mode so things are a bit more ambiguous.

I've been playing the hard mansions in the original MM, and there are a lot of situations that seem like cheap deaths, too hard, etc. that we would have flagged in testing MM2. It was kind of surprising and gave me a new perspective on MM2, that some of the things we might have thought were too hard aren't so bad after all.

Partly perhaps because I've played a lot of CM since I first came across MM, but still...

Yes, a few times, and I'm getting pretty good at it! ;D Edit: Oops, I just noticed that was meant for Olle. Sorry! :-[

I agree that HARD in MM2 is generally not as hard as the custom mansions. I'm a little surprised by the comparison to MM1, though. I actually thought that several of the easy/normal mansions were tougher in MM2 compared to MM1.
I can't wait to post my original version of DDD Hard. (What I'm calling DDD X-Hard) There's still some clean-up going on, also I'm punching up one or two areas that I thought were kind of easy even before I started making things easier. It was a slight shock to discover after a lot of testing wtih the release coming up soon that I had to make it a lot easier. Towards the end, after, I didn't really think it was that hard, just long. At one point, there were a few areas that I thought were pretty challenging, but they ended up being made much easier. The zapper section and the blue rooms especially - though Semi Native and Margherita still made it though. I believe Vern was looking for as much mass appeal as possible even for casual gamers. He wanted a large percentage of the playing audience to be able to get through the mansions. There were always the custom mansions for folks who wanted even greater challenges. At least, that was my impression. Something else that I'm finding strange in MM2 is that certain areas are actually easier in the Normal mansion than in the Easy. The final section of Magma Keep is one example. Also, the beginning section of Basano is another. |
