They appear to be quite unpopular, yet the game wouldn't be the same without them. They can be extremely frustrating, but so rewarding when you beat them. They can turn out to be much harder than intended, but they look so nice in a room!
What's your opinion?

The Zapper Beams are good in the mansions for explore and so... They make the mansion a little harder, and that's the best one in a mansion, or not? 8-)

Everything has to do about the way those zappers are used.
E.g. in the EASY section of Midnight Mazes and Monsters there is a 4-room maze with zappers. But they shouldn't give any problem, as long as you play carefully and stay concentrated. And the legendary thunderstorm in A Curious Observatory I can appreciate, because in a matter of fact it is a puzzle that one needs to solve.
But getting through irregular working beams in combination with red birds or whatever ... Please no. Made the Temple of the Moon too tough for me.

Yes, there's a frustration factor which you don't have with other features.
A zapper beam strike then? Would that be like, no zapper at all or the opposite, a zapper-mania? ;D

I am not so fond of zapper beams and red birds although, of course, I have used them in my mansions. But sometimes there is a trick to play the beams, e.g. at least at one place in Arfrg. And there are places where it is a question of exact timing, like in Doldrum Dungeon.

Wow - my comment on a possible laser mansion has resulted in a lot of opinions - obviously zappers are difficult for everyone...
if I do go ahead I PROMISE not to use a red bird in combination with zappers anywhere in the mansion - those red birds - another pet hate of mine...
