Beta 2 - Slowdown [TODO/Research]
#1
Hey,

I've tried everything that Vern has said but I am still experiencing slowdowns at 19fps. However, this time it's all the time, not at random sessions. I've tried both the no fps and double fps cheats and in windowed mode it goes up to about 122fps (double) and up to 210 (no fps) however, it still stays at 19fps on fullscreen with both cheats.

It's not allowing me to resize the window either, I'll drag the corner and it will snap back to place

Cheers
Leon

Can everyone experiencing this slowdown try this version?

www.actionsoft.com/files/temp/FullscreenTest.zip

Two things:

1) go to windowed mode, then switch to fullscreen again. It'll be 800x600 resolution this time. Is it still slow?

2) Look at the console log for the game. (Applications/Utilities) Look at what's printed to the log right after you switch to fullscreen. Look for information like this:

Setting fullscreen window to resolution: 800, 600
Fullscreen window refresh rate: 0Fullscreen window pixel format rate: -2043273212

I'm curious to see if the refresh rate is 0 like it is on my computer. It should be...

I'll have another version for you to test soon too that'll test a different theory.

Also, could each of you who are having problems post any relevant info about the Mac you're running on? Model number, Display max resolution, OS version, processor type and speed, graphics card information (if you know), etc.

here's what I got

Setting fullscreen window to resolution: 800, 600

But it still runs slow, however I found out that when you exit fullscreen mode then go back to fullscreen when in a mansion, it will run at regular speed of 61fps

Sometimes... I haven't been able to repeat that consistently. I've also gotten it to work, but sometimes it doesn't.

Weird... both of your Macs are *faster* and better than mine in every way. So it's bizarre to me that it'd be running *slower* on your setups. When I can get fullscreen framerates of 200+ fps... I'll upload some more tests for you to try.

Leon -- switching to windowed and back to fullscreen, does it consistently work for you now when you do that switch? If so, maybe the 800x600 resolution is helping...

Not all the time, but it works more frequently with the 800x600 version
