First of all, thanks to Semi-Native (and Rose, in other threads) for helping out with answering questions like these. You're doing a great job.
Wish I'd find the time to do it all myself - but it's just not possible at the moment. (E.g. I have only seen this thread today, Sept. 18)
I know this room is somewhat tricky.
The point you mention - that the room is reset upon re-entry - is irritating many players in the beginning. But of course I did it all on purpose - not only to make it more challenging, but also because once you understand how it works it all makes wonderful sense.
It's a question of
doing what when
, meaning
the order of things
, because if you take a close look you'll see that not ALL actions are reset (when Jack re-enters the room), only some.
And also, BTW, the order of what you're doing in this room first, what second etc. also in a way
enforces
what you'll do when in the following rooms (left and above of this one), thus making even more sense - it will give you clues about where to go next - even though you are basically free to go wherever you want, whenever you want. But some routes make
more sense
than others or will lead you to the
goal
quicker than others.
But - don't forget - some areas must be visited several times to be fully solved.
The good thing is - you can't make that much real mistakes - except lose a few lives - so try everything, move about freely and ultimately you'll discover the quickest route.
Was that too cryptic ?
(Well, you all know my theory about
replay value
- I mentioned it often enough: the mansions might look a bit too complicated (or too hard) first, and you won't discover everything at once - but therefore you can play them repeatedly and still find new twists, new secrets or the perfect route etc - Replay Value !)
