Aw...twarn't nuttin. Just came from left, died (poorly) in the hole on the right. Then appeared on the left again. I kept trying to find a way to change the bricks and couldn't figure it out. Eventually, I must have done something (don't know WHAT) because after much squigging...came back in the room, after many attempts, and miraculously (!) the bricks were changed! It wasn't any act of brilliance, I assure you! LOL!

I actually don't know where your irritation stems from - in both rooms (the one in your pic below and the one to the left of it) are very visible means to toggle the gold/silver blocks - so even in those rare occasions where something happens like what we see in your pic below, you only have to go left and toggle the blocks - et voilà - afterwards you can explore the rest of the rooms to the right side.
