Beta 3 Available

The solution Vern suggested where this exploit cannot be not used in built-in mansions but can be used in custom mansions only is the best way to handle this situation. Rob's idea of the checking a box in the
mansion info
screen in the editor would be a good idea, too, with it off as default and can be put on.

This could go the same with the change proposed in making ladders not be able to used but from the ends; not the middles-- only in built-in mansions or via checkbox in the editor, default the new way it will be.

Agreed. Make Ladder jumps optional, so we can keep them in Custom Mansions is a fine solution 8-)

OK, I am going to sound like a totally naive idiot here, but can someone explain what a ladder jump is?

When Jack reaches the top or bottom of a ladder that is in space (no tiles for him to step on), if you hold down the Jump key and up, right or left arrow key at the same time, he can jump onto something.

Okay folks, I've finished modifying the game so that
Allow Ladder Jumps
is now a checkbox in the Mansion Options dialog. It's off by default, but custom mansion designers can enable it. :-)

Thanks Semi-Native! I can't believe I had no idea Jack could do that!

I totally agree with aquaMat.

The disadvantage here is a slight inconsistency in how the game plays (i.e. some players might try to use them in built-in mansions), but I don't see it as being a big problem. Would make the MM community happy, while keeping players from
cheating
in the built-in mansions (in areas where ladder jumping was not intended, and never documented). Opinions?

Vern's compromise seems lika a good one. I can live with that.

Some people have pointed out that there should be something about known
eastern eggs
in the game in the manual and/or the tutorial.  I agree with that and I also think they should be described somewhere here at the forums.  But what have we found so far?

1. The ladderjump
2. The armlifting feature to reach otherwise unreachable things
3. Using the lever to get through doors or solid walls
4. Being able to get on a ladder even if the ladder goes through a hole in the ledge that Jack is standing on.
5. Being able to have more than one Jack

Are there more?

Btw. Vern fixed issue 4 above as it led to many complications in many mansions, including built-in mansions.  I am not sure about feature 3 but I disagree with those who might want it out just because it is
abnormal
.  It can lead to interesting key puzzles anyway.

I would definitely want to keep features 1 and 2.

Regarding number 5 above it has only been used in Dalton Brothers and Identical Twins. It works fine in a one room mansion but leads to complications if there are more rooms. This is a copy-paste feature in the builder and I don't know how it can be avoided. But it is not a widely used or popular feature anyway.

I didn't see this post until just now. Thank you very much Vern. When will you release this feature?

Hey,

Is it possible to have a switch to be able to turn the wind off and on at all? If not could you consider adding it to either this sequel or the next one?

Thanks
Leon
