Beta 2: Mount Peril
#51
Okay Wing.... ahem...Anhony then !   Wink
(But see, that's the problem w/ name changes - people are use to the old ones....!)

IMPORTANT QUESTION / BUG ??:

I have tried to play your Mt. Peril update - but it didn't work.
I have downloaded it (from this thread) and then included in the correct folder (MM2 Beta 2 >Game Data > Mansions), but when you start the game and choose Mt. Peril (from the beginning) or try to open a saved Mt. Peril game an error note occurs, saying something to the effect of:
MM can't open/play this mansion. Apparently the mansion file has been changed in the meantime....
.

What's wrong with it?
Can anybody else play the Mt.Peril update ?

Put it in the Custom Mansions folder and then it will play. I think you have to start over from the beginning, though.

Have you done any Repair permission recently? I have and I used Onyx. This time it changed all icons in MM2 to something I think is OmniGraffle. I did change all to open with the MBL. Had to do it one by one because the Change All button refused to work as it should.

Actually, I have to admit I don't know what you're talking about. I didn't do any such thing. Although I have the program OmniGraffle I don't know what it is for - I guess I've never used it. (Was part of the Mac's standard repertoire I guess.)

The update of his surely should be working without any such thing, shouldn't it?

(I'll try Semi-Native's advice..... although I hesitate having to go through all of it again - from the beginning.)

The kind of error I was getting, one used to get that in MM when for example a mansion name's spelling has been slightly changed and the computer can't make the connection of the new name with the saved games' name.
But this isn't the case here.... and - what's even more strange - MM2 can't even play Mount Peril from the beginning (= from the map) any more.... so there must be some kind of problem with the update, I guess.

Does the mansion icons look right, aquaMat? Mine didn't. If your does ou have another problem than I had. I couldn't open any
original
mansion in MM2 until I changed it.

Vern has to run the mansion file through his own special program he made, or something like that -- so there is nothing but Vern to do to make an updated mansion from me or anyone els BUT Vern to make the mansion work from the Map Screen. The update I put out there was only for people to play via
Open Mansion
on the main menu screen.

There's nothing wrong with your computer, you don't have to repair it in anyway or anything. Tongue

This is correct. This is to prevent:

A) Unregistered players from being able to play the full mansions, and:

B) Prevent registered users from modifying the mansion (lots of gold, fewer monsters) and using the modified version to get a high score and post it online.

No, my icon looked perfectly normal....!!
So after everything that's said here, it seems the only way to play the Mt. Peril update is to either put into the Custom Mansions folder or - wait for Beta 3.

Conicidentially - Beta 3 seems to be out by now !!?
So I hope the corrected Mt. Peril is in there...??!

Correct on both counts, AquaMat.
