Hard Mode:

After I posted the Jack Stuck in room 16113, I closed the game & went to open it from the 1st save after the red door.  Guess what...it did NOT save in my game save folder!!!  All I have for a save there is the 1st one from the very beginning.
Please check the save after the 1st red door, then check your folder to make sure it did save, then open from that save to make sure it works.

Room 16115, the sign says to follow the little man.  Well, if Jack kills the little guy he is gone for good.  Even if Jack leaves the room & comes back.....the guy does not come back.  Are you sure you want it this way????  Cause there is no one to lead Jack if there is an accident.

Easy Mode Room 16319

The 2nd sign should state the number of red keys needed. Instead, it just asks if you have your red keys. If Jack goes down the pole without the required number of red keys he can't go back to look.

Room 15717.....finally the saddle bag.....near to the very end! lolololol

Ok, I am finished the Easy Mode. Perhaps someone else can go thru it once you have made the changes to see if there are any other problems, as I am way to familiar with it now & might miss something. Big Grin

Jack can't get back down from the top ledge, to go back into room 15313 (room to the left) to get the bag of money which is hidden past the spiders.

Fixed.

I know that the sign says that there is only a one time help, but the grey brick that brings Jack close to the vines is still to close to the edge of the roof.  When Jack jumps off the grey brick, he ends back up on the roof with no more help.  lolololol   No one will know that Jack has to literally fall towards the vines to avoid ending up back on the roof.

Actually there is an easy way back, you can just jump off the ledge to the vine. I had never noticed that! Anyway, now the grey bat has gone, and it is indicated how to go back.

In the 2nd pic.....Jack has to die to get out of there and reappear on the right side to leave the room and bring back the moving brick.

I think you can make it if you are really really close to the edge and you do a fiendish jump. Needless to say, I extend a few ledges so you don't need to anyway ;D

Maybe the little music hint (when you have to dispose of all critters in a room) isn't obvious enough. If you play with no sound or in a loud environment you may miss it.

But if it is any consolation, last time I played it I was short of a key as well (but not that one) :-?

1st pic, look for Jack in the top left corner, near the skull & room number.  Jack can go left into the next room see
2nd pic.  Maybe you should block that area off.  Jack died doing that.

Quite a jump you did! The area is blocked now.

Added a half brick. It's an expensive death now  Wink

Jack fell from the above room, far right bottom level onto the grey doors in the pic below.

Fixed: I added zapper beams in the holes.

Jack Stuck

If Jack misses pulling the lever on the lower level because he jumped on the grey bat brick, he is forced to finish the upper levels to get all the yellow keys.
After he opens the yellow doors and goes down on the green bricks, Jack goes over the zappers to get to the lever, yet he makes the same darn mistake and jumps onto the grey bat bricks which bring him up again.....now the green bricks beyond the yellow doors are not available anymore.

To make a long story short, the grey bad bricks should let Jack go back down to the lever level.

I unpermanented the green brick lift, so you can even avoid jumping the zapper beam again.

Jack Stuck.

Jack rode around the grey bat brick to the spiders & back.  He went to jump to pull the lever, fell, died & ended up on the little green disappearing brick, but the grey bat brick disappeared, no where to be found.  Jack is stuck.

Can't you go back by using the little falling platform? Mapman had the same problem before if I understood well. Shall I add a BBB somewhere to say that it is safe to use falling platforms to go back to the lower floor?

I've only used it in Easy Mode, but it worked perfectly - it saved and in the picture you can see it opening. Perhaps there's a problem with Hard Mode.

I don't want it this way. I'm sure the players know they should be careful. So what I did is, I moved the little guy's starting point farther, so you cannot kill him at the start by accident anymore. (Assassination is still possible, of course.)

I considered putting a further hint in the spirit of
don't kill him
on the BBB, but maybe that would be too much: I mean, how can the guide show you the way if you kill him?

However, if the general opinion is that I should put an extra warning, I will. And if the even more general opinion is that it shouldn't be possible at all to kill the little guy until he went on the ladder, what with it being the Easy mode and whatnot, I can make an effort.

So what do you think?

The uncertainty regarding red keys is deliberate: it just means you'll get less money in the end (you don't need any red key to find the exit door). Now if this is bad manners in the Easy level I could give away the number of keys in the BBB.

Also, the saddle bag is available much earlier in the game now (somewhere in the blue section). Not so in the other modes [smiley=evil.gif]

This is very strange. If there is a problem, I don't think it is the sort that I could fix Undecided

@Mapman - I think Missy meant the Hard mode. Can you try and repeat the bug there?

I'd love to repeat it in Hard Mode but there's no way I'd get that far into the mansion in Hard Mode. I can sometimes manage Normal Mode but not Hard. I can't even get to the end of Jack Visits His Neighbours and I designed that!!!

Is there someone more expert than me who would like to take up the challenge?

Hi Mapman,

FYI:  When Beta Testing, regular game rules don't apply.  As you want to check every possible problem.

After you open the game of your choice and you see Jack (NOT FLASHING), hit the ESCAPE button on your key board.
This will bring up the menu screen.  Now type these words:
EXTRA LIFE
.  Type them over and over again.  You will hear a sound each time.  That sound indicates a new life has been added.  I usually load up 20 lives to start. Hit Escape button again when finished adding extra lives.  This allows me to TEST out all sorts of things without having to start over from my last save.

Repeat each time you need more lives.  If you typed the words incorrectly you will NOT hear a sound, so hit the Escape button again to close that window and hit it again to open it again to type.

At the end of the game you will see that you used Cheats.....SO WHAT.....WE ARE BETA TESTING & NOT PLAYING A REGULAR GAME TESTING OUR SKILLS.

We are looking for problems.  I HOPE THAT THIS HELPS YOU TO TEST THE HARD MANSIONS.  There is a hint list of instructions for Beta Testers, but I forget where it is on the forum.

The Save I was referring to was in HARD MODE.  There are a group of red doors all together, 5 or 6 of them with a couple of saves between them.  I will check it out later, as it was real late & I was very burnt out.

I thank you for ALL YOUR HELP in finding the missing key.

I tried my best to find as many possible problems as I could.  Whether the designer wishes to change them or not is up to him/her, but at least I did my job to point out any possible problem a player might complain about.
I might have missed things, so when the update link is released please go over it again, as I am only human and do make mistakes.  lolololol   Big Grin
