Mansion Comments: Mount Peril

Post here for bugs / comments / suggestions for Mount Peril.

Remember to mention the room number (push Command-D to see it in the upper-left corner) and difficulty (Easy Normal, Hard) you are playing.

Jack made his way into the dark room 16502, from the vines in the room below. He jumped right into 16503, but when he tries to go back into 16502, he's stuck.

Edit: I just looked at it in the editor. Apparently, Jack must have jumped over the gray door into 16503.

Hi Semi-Native, how did you manage to get stuck? I tried to do what you said, but I'm not quite sure what you mean! Did you jump through the grey door, and it closed behind you?

Btw, Tobin isn't around much anymore, so I'll be fixing up his mansion for him. Smile

Anthony, I'm not sure if I jumped through or over, since the room is dark. I climbed up to the top of the vine and jumped right. When you look in the editor, those gray doors are closed.

My impressions of this mansion are that it's too hard for Normal, in many areas. Especially all the moving platforms and dodging critters. Maybe it would be easier with more shields. It definitely could use more Save points!

Overall, I like it, but as it is I don't think it could be called Normal.

I agree with you, in terms of being too hard for normal. I am looking into that.

So, with the dark room -- you climb up the vine into 16502. There should be a grey door that is closed to the right, and two open ones to the left, which you can't see. You should follow the silver coins to the lantern, which when you get closes the door. Then you have to open the doors with the levers...

So that's what your meant to do, and Im still confused on what exactly you did -- how did you get past that door to the right in the dark? Are you sure we're talking about the right room? A screenshot would be nice.

In the top screen shot, Jack is at the top of the vine in 16502; in the middle shot, he has jumped over the gray door and landed in the next room 16503. In the bottom shot, it shows Jack stuck trying to get back into 16502.

I know he's jumping over the door, because you hear him land on it, then land on the floor of 16503.

I made these screen shots using the level editor.

Okay, I just played the mansion through again (and got 100% secrets :Smile), and here are some suggestions:

I think this would be good as the Hard version, but still add 1 or 2 Save points.

For a Normal version, here are the rooms I'd change:
15704 - ghosts come at you too fast; very hard to avoid

15696 - 2 spiders moving fast; very hard to avoid

16104 - I think it's necessary to have a shield to kill the little troll so the yellow platforms will appear; I didn't have a shield so had to sacrifice a life.

16900 - platforms should be slower

16699 - conveyor belts too hard
16698 - same
17300 - same
15502 - same

16902 - disappearing/reappearing blocks and zapper beams very difficult

And once again, need more Save points.

Thanks Semi, I'll adjust each of these rooms to make them more normal.

Here you have to trick the goblin into leaving the room, no need to sacrifice a Jack. Wink
