Chateau de Medusa Hard

I have been struggling for some time now with this mansion. I am lost as to where I am to go or what I am missing to get past the beginning. At the moment all I seem to do is get stuck in the dark rooms after falling from the ladder at the top of the mansion. Any help that I can get will be more than appreciated!

Where are you in the Chateau Medusa hard? Room number? You press the keys Command and D to get the room number. You can also press M to see the map.

When you're in the dark, look for coins in the shape of a lever.
