I really like how the Global High Scores list is first a race to see who can get all the coins and secrets, and then a race to see who can do it even faster.
I just maxed out House of Baron Garneau, and was surprised and pleased to find someone beat it nearly 10 minutes faster than I did!

Hi Alan,
good to see you back...! Interesting that you say that. I have just re-played House Of Baron G...HARD for the first time after a year or so. And while I never cared for the Global High Score Lists in the past, I was surprised to find myself directed automatically to that site by the game, once I finished HoBG HARD with 93% secrets in 65 mins. or so. (My best score so far...) Normally I don't like it at all if software is linking me automatically to the internet .... but in this case it was a nice surprise. Is that a new feature that you're automatically linked with that list, or did I just never have good enough scores in the past for that to happen...?? : 8-)I remember the game used to ask in older versions, didn't it ?

aquaMat, the game should have a checkbox when you beat a mansion asking if you would like to submit the name you enter to the Global High Scores list.
HoBG is an interesting mansion to me because the original designer kind of abandoned it in a less than perfect (but mostly playable) state, and so a few of us designers picked it up to re-master it in different difficulty levels. I must admit to having played the version that I did (Normal) because (unless I'm losing it in my old age[smiley=birthdays.gif]) that was the one that I was tasked to re-master. It was actually a very fun experience taking someone else's layout, concepts, and puzzles and trying to improve upon them and fit them together in a more cohesive way. I'm not sure that any of our custom mansions or come from that same kind of Frankenstein's Monster DNA, but it would be an interesting experiment for a couple of willing participants. |
