Easy 16491

This is a room with sparkles etc. to indicate that something happens when all monsters are destroyed.

Jack comes in at top left, pulls the lever to open the grey doors and let the ghoul out of its cage, jumps across and leaves to go to the room on the right from the falling platform without pulling the lever at the bottom (which would turn the torches on). When he comes back the ghoul comes towards him, pauses for ten seconds where it is in the picture, and then comes on and eventually kills Jack, who has no way of getting down to the bottom lever. The steps then appear and Jack can carry on.

It would be preferable if Jack couldn't get into the right hand room until he had been down to the bottom to turn the torches on. This would be easy to achieve by altering the size and/or position of the right-hand falling platform.

The fact that the ghoul pauses part way across the room is odd, but it is reproducible in the Mansion Level Builder. The picture is from the MLB because I forgot to take one when I was playing the game.

These notes could apply to each difficulty.

I was playing hard mode and in room 15897, if you jump from the falling platform onto the ledge there you can jump up and into an empty room. I assumed it was going to be a secret, and I (in a designer's prospective) suggest that it would be a good idea. Or did you intend to add a secret, but forgot? Tongue That's happened to me.

Also: 15695 Hard, the edges of the cave graphics seem to be off.

16093 Hard: There seems to be nothing in the lower section of this room. I would suggest adding a trigger near the statue as something fun (going along with the pray at a statue theme) and a couple coins appear, or something) Seems a bit empty down there with no real reason for Jack to take that route other then scenery.

Magma Peak Easy

I didn't find any problems with this mansion. Except for a few minor areas where difficulty may be more Normal (and they've already been mentioned), I think the difficulty level is fitting.

One question: Why does Jack start on the lower level in the Easy version. In Normal and Hard he starts on the upper level. Just curious if this was intended or a mistake.

Just finished the Hard version and found no other problems besides 15897, that Anthony already mentioned above.

There are a few spots in the maze at the bottom of the mansion (before the treasure room) that are empty. It's kind of frustrating to dodge critters and then find a dead end with nothing in it. I'd suggest adding some money or secrets.

Easy

16298 There's part of the chain still left in this room that leads to a secret in other versions, at least Hard. But it goes nowhere here and should be removed.

Magma Peak Easy
Two scorpions in room 17096 makes it very hard to get the shield without dying!

Magma peak normal

16896 the yellow key doesn't appear when the monsters are dead. Jack has to leave the room and come back to get the key.

I find this mansion easy to play too.


Both versions
It is a lot of walking in rooms where nothing much happens or can be found.
