I am also currently working on an alternative improved version where - during the first hard part - the player will find a key and two matching doors: One with a safe and one with 1.000 gold. The players can choose if they want to safe the game (when they are low on lives) or take the gold and get one life extra (kind of as a reward for not dying yet...). Does that sound fair?

philosophywas kind of like that: Once you've seen a monster, it's your responsibility to not run into it. Example: If you enter a room with fast birds in it (like 16699) on the first level, you know that these birds will be there on the second and third level too. I know, it is not easy to remember that stuff, but you also have your map to look at in case you are uncertain what lies ahead. If this is too unusual or too complicated or anything, let me know and I'll do something about it.
