In the same room but far away from Jack there was a mimic. Because of the moves from Jack the mimic arrived at the same time at an other lever. And the mimic is dominant when being together with Jack at levers. So it was the mimic that opened the grey door.
By moving the lever to the other spot, Jack and the mimic were not together at the levers anymore.
