I just downloaded Beta 4 from the site earlier today. After launching it in windowed mode (it was mostly smooth, despite a 75-tab Firefox session running in the background), I started a new Easy game and headed for Hint House. After clicking to load the place, I immediately tasked out (Cmd+Tab) and continued to check the web page I was reading.
When I tasked back, the opening fade-in had not completed, but the pause box had come up and could be very dimly seen. The game was effectively stuck— the pause box couldn't be clicked because the game wouldn't accept any input until the (paused) opening fade was over; a classic Catch-22. I had to close the window, thus quitting the game, to get out of it.
Stats: Midnight Mansion Episode 1 was running on my PowerBook G4 (PPC), 10.5.8.
