I'm assuming that the level editor is going to be a separate app on the App Store available for purchase. This would be the best way to market this sort of tool for the game.
However, I tried to open an old custom mansion from inside of Beta 4 - I have both episode 1 and 2 enabled. It didn't say anything was wrong, after I selected the mansion it just came back to the menu and nothing happened. Is there a way to play custom mansions yet or is that going to be in a later update?
