thanks to Scirocco for being supportive on IM while I got progressively more pissed off. Beta testing doesn't have to be easy, but it shouldn't be perilous.
Sorry mick. I had assumed you'd wait until I could upload a fixed version. I worked all day yesterday ripping out old sound code plugging in a new sound system, so the mikmod thing wouldn't be required anymore, and the popping issue would be fixed... only to discover that the new sound system has issues of its own... all sound effects play 0.2 seconds after they are supposed to. Aaaargh!
I'm going to be looking into using *another* sound ssystem. But the fixed beta will be delayed until that can get done. If you don't have beta 5 working, please just wait for a new version... even if it means waiting a few days. I don't want any of you to get frustrated!
