Do note: this will result in the behavior of the game

freezing

when Jack jumps on a save pedestal, and he will remain frozen until you release all keys. This is the only way I can see of fixing the problem.

This might be confusing to some players, but hopefully if they get confused, they'll release the keys, at which point the dialog will appear. Jack does change into the

statue pose

so it's not too confusing I don't think.
