All CMs at once

Since I found out about how to make a dmg-file myself, I am thinking of relaunching a topic where especially new members may download all CMs at once.

The dmg-file is 58,4 MB. One needs 1,89 GB (yes!!) of disk space for all 115 approved custom mansions.

I am interested in your opinions. And hope that someone will check if the dmg-file works properly.

It took 7 to 8 minutes to upload the post with the dmg-file. So I assume that the same time is needed to download it.

How about splitting them up into 2 or 3 sections alphabetically so the downloads wouldn't take so long. In other words, maybe have 2 or 3 .dmg's?

58.4 MB is not that big nowadays, considering most people have high-speed connections. I wouldn't worry about splitting it up.

To be honest, I don't see the advantage of splitting it alphabetical-wise. When someone wants them all, 3 smaller downloadings take more time than 1 large.

However, seperating easy, normal and hard may be an idea.

No. Usually the internet providers tune in upload speed to half the download speed. Don't ask me why.

I agree with Vern. We don't need to split the dmg file. But will we make a new dmg file everytime we upload a mansion?

No. Only once in a while. From the previous topic I know it takes a lot of time and energy. Because one needs to be very sure about the most recent version of ALL approved custom mansions in one's own CM-folder. And that the folder contains ALL mansions, that everywhere the preview pics got removed, that the version on the maps is okay etc.

Suggestion: about 3 times a year? Depending from the rhythm of new stuff.
