The story takes place in Paris in the February of the fateful year 1789, five months before the outbreak of the French Revolution. The general mood on the streets is already beginning to turn against the aristocracy, so many nobles leave the city for their country-seats. Our hero, Jacques Moiloné, heard that the Marquis de Pompomrouge also has left his palace and took the bigger part of his guards with him. Palace Pompomrouge. Since the Marquis is known to be a cruel and greedy glutton who despises the poor, Jacques doesn't have a problem with entering the palace and thoroughly sacking it. So he makes his way in and starts robbing all the gold he can find, not knowing what shocking revelation will wait for him at the end of his adventure...
