Beta 6 - Big problem, sound is all static-y
#1
I had some free time, so I downloaded the new beta. On launching it, however, I realized there was a problem with it straightaway. Specifically, all sound was set to a backdrop of static, which is audible at all times and is on par (volume-wise) with the music, which can still be heard.

I'm running 10.5.8, PPC, PowerBook G4. Now what?

My sound is perfect in Beta 6. I can't hear any static. I've tried several mansions both with and without
softer music
set in Options. I'm on 10.6.8 but I don't see why that should make a difference.

Do you have anything else running in the background at the same time?

The sound on my system also seems fine. No apparent static. Then again, I'm just listening to it from my laptop speakers, and not playing it very loud.

The sound is fine on my Intel Mac, but I just downloaded Beta6 onto my PPC PowerBook G4 running 10.4.11, and I got the same static. It's very loud, sounds like a waterfall.

Yes, I got that a few days ago. It is fixed in beta 7. However, another problem now is that on PPC Macs you can't hear any sound that is 3D-positioned, like sound from zapper beams, torches, or snakes.

I will have to look into fixing that. Thanks for the reports though. It's useful to know this was indeed a PPC issue.
