I too am stuck in room 16504

Jack is

stuck

or if not, I do not know how to progress from here. Here's the picture. Jack is right next to the barricade, on its left side (see the big red arrow pointing to it. He climbed to it from directly below, with no way to go anywhere.
Is he stuck, or, am I :-?

Not stuck, just a very hard puzzle.

Yes, it is hard to fumble in the dark. You can climb up and climb down, jump and pull levers.

Hi, thank you both for the reply.
I've tried all that, Rose - no luck, no lever to pull no ladder to climb up or down and of course can't get back to the beginning of the puzzle to restart.
Any suggestion re; specific direction?

It seems like I have a version on my computer in which I have fixed this JS (for it is indeed a JS) but I seem to have forgotten to send the update to the admins (bad bad me)
