Custom Mansions cause crash - HELP!
#1
When I play version 1.1.2, I have no problems, but when I try to open a mansion I have downloaded, I get a system kernel panic and have to restart. This does not happen on my G4 Quicksilver - just my G5 quad 2.5 GHz PPC running 10.4.11 with 5 GB SDRAM.

Any suggestions on a fix?

Are you using MM 1.1.2 on both machines? Can you play the included mansions on both machines?
Could it be that you have installed the intel version of MM on the G5?
Are the custom mansions in the custom mansions folder?

There is an Intel version of MM? I play MM 1.0.6 on my Intel Macbook and it works fine. But the same game on my G5 PPC crahes when I try to open a custom mansion.

I have tried copying the 1.0.6 from the Macbook to the G5 and it still crashes.

Well, the
intel
version is actually a PPC version that is supposed to work better with Rosetta. I am sorry but I do not know what the problem is.

Just FYI, since upgrading to 1.1.2 I've been getting system freezes (requiring computer reboot.) It doesn't seem to be related to any particular mansion, but has happened about 15 times (very annoying in the middle of a game.) The old version was fine. Running on a G4 with 10.3.9.

Never had a problem like this at all......

The only freeze I sometimes get is in the editor, after I have taken a short break while designing a room and then get back to the editor with cmd-T (= testing the room) as the first command, sometimes the editor freezes and the room suddenly looks distorted with some lava and blue bricks at the bottom (no matter how that particular room looks normally !!!)....

But I never had the slightest problem with the game itself...!!

Eeeeiw. That's not good. Have you done any other upgrades around the same time? It may be an upgraded version of Rosetta that's causing the problem instead, or something like that.

If you have an old version of the game, I'd try that and see if it crashes on you now too. I've not changed anything in the game that I could imagine causing crashes as compared with prior versions.
