Here's an oddball for you. Set the screen resolution to 640x480 and hold down option when the game starts up to start in windowed mode. The game should position the game window off the top of the screen to avoid clipping on the bottom. Start a game, and start running around. What do you see?
The effect is quite weird. It's like the game draws the room in the proper place, but Jack exists in a separate plane that is offset by about the amount the window is positioned off the top of the screen. When he runs around, he leaves a trail of offset graphics in his wake.
I discovered this because, for the first time ever, I tried playing Midnight Mansion on a widescreen monitor and found the stretching at 640x480 quite unacceptable. I set the lowest 16:10 resolution I could see (800x500), then started the game up in windowed mode.
Obviously, this is not a very common bug, so you may or may not want to fix it before the expansion pack ships.
(It happened in MM 1.0.8, not an XP beta, but I figured it was probably present there too.)
