Here's Jack, stuck....
There's a trigger or lever in the bricks below Jack. It makes a noise but doesn't function. Jack can't get back off the stack of bricks.

1. Yes, the floor button does indeed function.
2. Yes, Jack can get down.

Jack isn't stuck. He can get down! Remember how he came up!

I do remember.
That's the confusion. It wasn't a problem the initial time through the room. If you say he's not stuck, that's great. I climb back down the ladder in the brickwork I'm standing on.
The FIRST time I was in the room, it worked finn. Climbed back down the ladder in the brickwork Jack's standing on; made it happen.
I was backtracking in the mansion, trying to get to a spot that I'd had trouble with before. The second time in the room, I heard the noise while I was down below, but nothing resulted.
Oh well.
