Beta 4: Signs in front of escape doors - brell - 07-24-2011 I just found out that if there is a sign in front of an escape door, then when the return key is pressed the second time (to close the sign message) it actually triggers the escape door, kicking Jack out of the mansion he is playing. Re: Beta 4: Signs in front of escape doors - brell - 07-24-2011 The return key indeed acts as the up key in front of an escape door. Re: Beta 4: Signs in front of escape doors - RobSeegel - 07-25-2011 I was able to duplicate this. I create a one-room mansion with an exit. First with no sign: Second with a sign in front of the exit door. Again Re: Beta 4: Signs in front of escape doors - VernJensen - 07-25-2011 I've had (likely older) players write to me, saying they can't get out of the mansion when they've gotten to the end. I figured I would make not only UP, but also ACTION keys both exit at the end. Why do you have a sign in front of the end door? Would this be a big deal to change? Re: Beta 4: Signs in front of escape doors - VernJensen - 07-25-2011 Okay, I've fixed this so that pushing the action key to dismiss the sign *will not* activate the exit door. I still wouldn't recommend putting signs in front of the exit door though, given that pushing action will now exit the game, not just UP. So if the player isn't close enough to the sign, he will activate the door instead. Re: Beta 4: Signs in front of escape doors - brell - 07-25-2011 Thanks Vern. The sign was because it was an alternative exit. Of course it is no big deal to change but I have seen signs in front of exit doors in a few mansions. Do you know why the up key didn't work to activate the exit door fro those players? Re: Beta 4: Signs in front of escape doors - VernJensen - 07-25-2011 It's not that the up key didn't work... it's that those players forgot you must push up to exit. Funny, right? I figure having TWO options to exit might help those players... :-) Re: Beta 4: Signs in front of escape doors - jacobvann - 07-25-2011 I do agree that pushing upto go through doors is a little un-intuitive if you didn't grow up on old 2d platformers.
Re: Beta 4: Signs in front of escape doors - brell - 07-26-2011 Agree with both of you
