Beta 4 - Map Zoom in and out - rose - 07-17-2011 Zoom in and out problem in Map view. Before one could use Cmd + +and Cmd + - to zoom in and out. It does work in both MM1 and MM2 Updated subject -- Rob Re: Beta 4 - Map Zoom in and out - RobSeegel - 07-17-2011 6E736F791C0 wrote: Zoom in and out problem in Map view. Both + and - keys work for me as expected. I experimented with various modifier keys, and I get similar results when I'm pressing the function (fn) key. With fn, the + works and - does not. Most likely unrelated. :-? Re: Beta 4 - Map Zoom in and out - rose - 07-17-2011 The Cmd + + or - are the Mac standard for zooming. MacBook Pro seems to in MM zoom with just use + or - , but in MMHD it doesn't work as before. Re: Beta 4 - Map Zoom in and out - margherita64 - 07-17-2011 I had the same problem: in MM1 and MM2 I used the + and - keys. Now in MM HD I found that is it possible to zoom in and out scrolling the Mighty Mouse button
Re: Beta 4 - Map Zoom in and out - rose - 07-18-2011 Now I saw that one is supposed to use the scroll wheel to zoom in and out. That isn't good. I don't have any scroll wheel!!! Is a scroll wheel standard on new Mac nowadays?? I did find out that the track pad can scroll by using two fingers but I rather have back the + and - option to zoom. Two finger on the track pad is for scrolling, not zooming. To zoom on a track pad one uses pull fingers apart or towards each other like pinching. So the way it is in MMHD it isn't as the System preferences has defined it and works against the way one is used to. What about my old G4, it doesn't have a mouse with scroll wheel???? or a track pad???? Don't limit the use of features in MMHD. If the feature/function is in MM1 and MM2 it should be in MMHD too! That goes for sound sliders too! Am I the only one having these opinions?? Re: Beta 4 - Map Zoom in and out - RobSeegel - 07-18-2011 Removed my original response, as it came across as insulting which was *not* the intent, and I apologize for it. I will leave the important point: * +/- still zoom in/out, at least they do for me when I play. This is what I stated before in an earlier post. So, this functionality must not have been taken out, it is merely broken in some environments, and needs to be fixed. Also: I do not share the opinion that every function from the original game necessarily needs to be present in the new game. At least initially. As an example: the sound controls. I like them as a feature, and I hope they will one day make it back into the game - possibly as a patch, however it's not critical for me. I almost *never* play with sound or music (except for my own) because I mostly play when it's late and don't want to disturb anyone. I certainly don't begrudge anyone else their disappointment that a feature isn't present. Personally, I'm far more disappointed by the lack of mansion builder update (even though I know it's coming, eventually and completely understand why it's delayed.) Re: Beta 4 - Map Zoom in and out - rose - 07-18-2011 Rob, I merely point things out and I am not working my self up. It seems I am the only one taking up this issue but I will refrain from doing so if you Rob is going to answer in a way that makes me feel I am just complaining and not contributing. I apologize for making you feel that way - it wasn't my intent, and I knew as soon as I sent that reply that I probably shouldn't have sent it - at least not publicly. I may have been reading more into your comments than was there with all the punctuation, and angry faces, etc. It's so hard to tell if someone's upset, joking, or just a little frustrated. I may also have misunderstood your responses. I don't believe I read that anyone said you were you were supposed to use the mouse or track pad. It was just noted that it was possible. You'd mentioned before that were unable to use + and -, and I had mentioned that I was, so obviously there's a bug there if I can do it and you can't. You weren't being ignored. You suggested a localization issue, which seemed like a reasonable possibility to me. Again, I'm sorry for going a bit over the top in my response.
Re: Beta 4 - Map Zoom in and out - RobSeegel - 07-19-2011 Rose and Margherita: I went in and added a few additional locales to my Mac to see the keyboard layouts. Do the following keyboards look something like your layouts? I've attached one for Sweden, Italy, and U.S. For us, the plus and minus keys are on the upper right, to the left of the delete key. When I'm zooming in/out in the map screen the game, what I'm actually hitting is [minus] and [equals]. It may sound silly, but could you also try hitting the same two keys on your keyboards regardless of whether they display plus or minus? Just curious if keyboard mappings are being handled correctly. When I switched my keyboards out, I seemed to zoom in/out using the defined US key location regardless of the current locale I was in. Thanks! Re: Beta 4 - Map Zoom in and out - margherita64 - 07-19-2011 Hi Rob, this is my keyboard : I signed in yellow the 2 keys that work for zooming in and out |
