There's no hint about how to read the brown signposts, unless I missed it.

Hint House Hard  beta4 
when you save the game it wants to save the game as NORMAL  rather than Hard!

ie: 
Hint House Normal 1

All difficulties for Hint House are the same so they all save under Normal not Hard or Easy

The only difference between Easy/Normal and Hard is the fact that you start with more lives on Easy and Normal

Found a typo by the first save pedestal. The game says,
Step on this pedastal to save your game...
etc

Also, the game never mentions how to tell if a lever is permanent or not (i.e. whether it'll reset if you leave the room).

I dutifully plowed my way through Hint House
Easy
and
Normal
... and wondered if I'd let my attention lapse because it was so simple. Halfway though HH
Hard
, the light finally came on.
THIS IS THE SAME !!

I felt ... not cheated, so much as gulled. I am saying this with a smile.

No. The game will let you beat it *without* having completed Hint House.

I will add a sign to the final room that mentions Hint House is the same on all difficulties, and does NOT need to be played!
