Beta 4 - VernJensen - 07-16-2011 I'm getting ready to submit to the Mac App Store Saturday if possible. So at the moment I'm looking for big, show-stopper bugs. (Although do continue to report any bugs, even minor ones.) www.actionsoft.com/files/temp/MidnightMansionHDBeta4.zip BETA 4: - Fullscreen slowdown fix??? Try it and let me know!! - Fixed in-game map so the preview of the room Jack is currently in accurately reflects the exact state of that room (including zapper beams and grey doors). - Fixed halo (light/shadow effect) that follows Jack so it always remains in view properly, even if Jack dies in a lower part of the room. - Added suicideas a cheat code. But it doesn't count as cheating. - Fixed output to console like this: __NSAutoreleaseNoPool(): Object 0x62bdf0 of class NSCFDictionary autoreleased with no pool in place - just leaking - Added teaser screens. - Hint House has question marks over the hints now. - Updated Castle Doom, all versions, fixing room 16700 (no die in lava if you jump in near the shield), and fixed extra green key issue in easy. Also added use of new music midway through first region. - Mansion fixes to all version of Tomb of Princes, and minor fixes to a few other mansions. - Disabled Ladder Jumpingon built-in mansions. - No fixes to The Great Escape yet... but all other mansions have all reported bugs fixed. The strange thing is when I had been able to get the faster speed to kick in the previous versions, I consistently got 60-62 fps in full screen mode. Re: Beta 4 - VernJensen - 07-16-2011 Rob, can you run beta 4 windowed at some window size, check the frame rate, and then quit and launch beta 3 (or 2, or whatever you want) and run the same room in the same mansion, and verify that it's indeed running faster at the same window size? (The game will remember your window size from launch to launch.) The trick is to remember to play the exact same mansion, exact same room, and not switch to fullscreen and back. Some rooms do tax the graphics processor a bit more than others. I'm hoping it's just that you're seeing some rooms slower than others, rather than beta 4 performing worse than former releases. That wouldn't make any sense to me why that would be the case. Re: Beta 4 - triforceguy1 - 07-16-2011 There's a misspelling in one of the teaser screens It should say colossal not collosal Re: Beta 4 - SoItBegins - 07-21-2011 1427302C08272C31272C420 wrote: BETA 4: I didn't notice any slowdown, fullscreen or windowed (60 FPS all the way). And I'm on an old PowerBook. Re: Beta 4 - JimRCGMO - 07-21-2011 Had a strange (artifact?) thing I noticed - in Falcon Manor Easy. I had made it down to the exit portal (Room 2507?) and saw that there was the magenta/pink/purple door (and Jack didn't have that key, but recalled seeing it in the upper part of a room on the way down to the exit), so went back to get it. Since I was (a little) impatient, as Jack goes into Room 2506, I start him jumping to cover the distance a little more quickly, and was about even with the leftmost knight/armor at the time. I noticed that as Jack started his 'leap', he disappeared for a split-second, then appeared in the next 'square', and this continued when he would jump as moving to the side. I believe it occurred until Jack got to rooms above that row, so not sure if it was a plain ol' flaky bug, or something in that level's rooms. Anyone else notice that? :-? Re: Beta 4 - VernJensen - 07-22-2011 Can you send me a replay (movie) of this? Replays (movies) are saved automatically of each game in: (Home)/Library/Application Support/ActionSoft/Midnight Mansion/User Movies Find the one that exhibited this behavior (use Open Replayon the title screen to try the different ones for that mansion out) and archive it (select it and choose Create Archive in the finger contextual menu that comes up when you Control-click that icon) and email it to me: vern AT actionsoft DOT com or post here. Thanks! Re: Beta 4 - JimRCGMO - 07-23-2011 Will do, Vern. Printing out your directions to take home and check. Second glitch: in Nightmare Mansion Normal, when I enter room 16702, there is a flashing red band (like a red overlay, on-off-on-off...) over the bottom one-third of the screen (didn't measure it). If I leave the room to another room (any other room), the flashing band doesn't continue but stops once Jack goes to the other room. (I'll also start hunting down the replay for that one too). Jim R. Re: Beta 4 - RobSeegel - 07-23-2011 Jim, Are these glitches repeatable? Have you tried going back to the same spots to see if you can trigger them again? |
