Beta 3 - Fullscreen hides sides of room [Fixed Beta3b?] - RobSeegel - 07-09-2011 I was testing to see if the fixes affected slowdown bug one way or the other, and I picked Falcon Manor Easy. I didn't notice it immediately, but something seemed wrong (aside from the Eye Candy issues in the first room, Vern). What caught my eye was that the spider web sprite on the upper left side of the room appeared to be extending beyond the borders of the room - this was my initial impression. Then I realized it wasn't - the sides were being hidden. Jack can also work off screeninto the blacked out areas. So the sprites are still rendered correctly, but the tiles aren't. Seeing is believing, so I've attached a pic. Re: Beta 3 - Fullscreen hides sides of room - RobSeegel - 07-09-2011 Further notes: I will see the behavior regardless of the setting assigned to the Stretch to fitoption. However, if I pause and adjust the option (either enabling or disabling) the problem is fixed. Re: Beta 3 - Fullscreen hides sides of room - VernJensen - 07-09-2011 Given that you're able to consistently duplicate the problem (and I can't), do you have any idea why you never saw this before? Can you figure out how to get it to start normally without the bug -- and then why it does this now? What is your screen resolution at? Re: Beta 3 - Fullscreen hides sides of room - RobSeegel - 07-10-2011 I leave my resolution at 1280x800 pretty much all the time, and occasionally switch up, if I need it. Generally, I don't. I switched my resolution higher to see if it mattered (it didn't). I went back and double-checked the previous releases, and none of them behave this way. The best I can say is that it has something to do with the funky screen-switching code you added in there in an attempt to fix the slowness issue. That code appears to do some pretty strange stuff. At least once, I ended up in full screen, yet I had a small game window, that was the same size when it was windowed, anchored to the bottom-left corner. Repeating it is as easy as the following: - Start the game in windowed mode - Start a mansion (Falcon Manor seems to be my go to mansion for testing for better or worse). - Switch to full screen once the mansion is loaded. That's it. That's all I have to do to see a screen that looks the screenshot. As I said before, If I hit Esc. and bring up the options dialog window, then I can fix it by enabling/disabling the stretch option. If that's true, then the special fixI uploaded today (with Command-G enabled) should NOT have this issue, since the funky fullscreen fixwas removed in that. The funky fix won't be in the future releases -- it was only for beta 3. So if it's removed in the Command-G enabled versionthen we can consider this topic resolved. If not, then I need to investigate further. Re: Beta 3 - Fullscreen hides sides of room - RobSeegel - 07-10-2011 What with one thing and another, it didn't occur to me to check this issue with the Speed Fix testversion. Sorry about that. I just did, and the problem went away, so yeah - this topic is resolved. |
